Spaceflies

Post by Maximizer » Thu, 15. May 08, 16:06

I was just wondering how the whole Spacefly collecting business operates? I bought the spacefly collector for a TS of mine but I'm a bit stumped as to how to 'activate' it. That and where can I find a bountiful swarm of spaceflies?

you find them often near asteroids, use ion disrupter to stun them, then collect as usual (like crates).

But Wait

Post by Maximizer » Thu, 15. May 08, 16:18

But how do you detect them? Does the spacefly collector have a built-in radar or do I have to go from asteroid to asteroid (trial-and-error) hoping for the best?

No detector (unless you are willing to use a script) but you will see them (not on radar though).

They will be given a target box (looks just like an m5s icon) once they are hit with an ID. Just cruise near asteroids and fire your ID and see if it hits any of them. If it does, they will stop moving and show up on your radar so you can collect them. The effect only lasts a few seconds but you can continue zapping them with short bursts while you collect to keep them immobilized. They sell pretty well and make great afterburner fuel if your using the bonus pack.

Go to a dense asteroid field. (hint: certain unknown sector is well knows for having tons of spaceflies) hit t button to repeatedly do manual targeting. if spaceflies fly into your view they will be automaticaly targeted.

Now fly and swing around with your ship and keep that ion disruptor ready. when a spacefly is targeted, go for it. smack it and collect it.

Spoiler
Show

Fly to Getsu Fune, up north to the Xenon sector and west to the Unknown sector beyond the xenon sector. That sector has plenty of spaceflies. equip a fast ship with IonD and leave some cargo space. Now dart around there and keep hitting t and aiming around. Watch for the spacefly clouds! :D
