It's a system you can buy later on. You need many money. Many money indeed. My advice: don't bother.

Buy it for 'many money' as The Boz says, but you need 'many money' more to fill it with stations/complexes. My advice: as above, don't bother

Waste of money, buy some M2's instead, if of course you have that kind of money

Spoiler
Show
Avarice comes up for sale around gameday 10-12, it will cost you over 600 million (some have paid over 1,000 mil for it), and you will find out how to buy it on the BBS system a few days before it is auctioned.

before then it is known as the 'Unkown' sector to the right of montallar.

A quick back-of-envelope calculation suggests that with the money you spend on Avarice, you can completely outfit an M2, an M1 and it's M3 fighter wing.

thanks,

indeed don't bother that system...

it would have been cooler if it was just as the xenon systems in x2 way of the sector map :D

Well, starting as a bankrupt assassin (with 0.0 credit), buying Avarice on day 9 is the best way to say "I had nothing to begin with, now i own my own sector : frak you  "

More than a symbol, that's it

I bought it and then put a couple M1's and M2's to patroll it. Its kinda like a home base owned by you. And xenon like to patroll through it along with pirates. In my Opinion, Worth buying for a symbol and safe haven.

The best reason for buying it, because it's there. (plus not everyone can make that much money in X3 and we should pity them).
Hmmm....

If you buy it, the trading staion becomes your property and you can't use it to purchase ship extensions or equipment. Unless GoD decides to build another trading station or equipment dock there, you have to go OOS to equip your ships.
This is only a virtual reality.

Why pay 600 mil plus for something you can take by force.

600 Mil is a small price to pay... for ending the BBS spam at every station.

god isn't going to place a trading station in avarace because it doesn't place any stations there once you buy it. which is good.

i had built there a supercomplex that produces everything i need to build and outfit my ships (except for software and upgrades, obviously) out of thin air (quite thin, actually, since it's in space (go ahead, ask me how i got ore and silicon in avarice - legit!)). the materials and equipment are then transferred to my headquarter which produces a constant stream of xenon lx fighters. credits required for the production of ships are collected by my fleet of universe traders. my headquarters have enough resources to build a colossus (the most demanding ship to build) 99% of the time. i'm plannging to lock down all pirate activity in the universe with this fleet, reinforcing patrols with dragons for dangerous routes.

so yeah, avarice is worth it.

My point exactly. Why not put your PHQ in a sector with an Equipment Dock? Maybe one with jumpdrives and Trade Command Software Mk 3 (like TerraCorp HQ).

because:
a) such sectors are usually heavily populated which really limits your architecture options.
b) it doesn't take a lot of effort to get your ships there in a carrier (or i case of a carrier give it a jump drive so it can go there on its own)
c) it's just not the same

Disco Haulers make placing HQs in/near Goner/Terracorp EqD sectors less important.

Yes, that's what I'm doing too. I just don't like the extra time and work involved.

it's relative. i even go the extra mile to hire combat vessel pilots in split space for that extra fierce touch :D

with reguards to buying avarice, i did the first time i played through the game and it cost me over 700 million - so the second time through, i merely took it over with a bit of brute force and ignorance (there were lots of xenon and pirates in there at the time). it's a great place for capping enemy vessels and i also found that by building a solar power plant in there, you can make an absolute fortune as long as your merchant vessels are well protected ! 8)

Mercury : for transporting goods to make as much profit as possible - and also good for whoopin some butt :)
