The Pirate Corvette
The Pirate Corvette was built by wealthy members of the pirate community to protect conveys carrying expensive goods such as space fuel, space weed, and the lucrative hornet missiles. Designed as a large version of the Bayamon, the Corvette class "Fury" enables the rear-attached M5 to shoot as missile defense. In addition to 4 Front mounted GHEPTs and a 3x25MW shield Capacity, the Fury has a large power Generator and 300m/s engines. In addition, the lack of shields often scares pirate pilots enough to eject, making this craft possible for capture.
However, the Fury is still in planning and needs someone who knows what they are doing to be implemented in the game.

Far too powerful...
I would suggest it with these specs:
Max speed: 283.7
Acceleration: 18
Max steering: 4
Cargo bay: 800
Main laser: 2xPSG's (any type, only PSG's, nothing else)
Turret back: 4x PAC'S (any type, only PAC's)
Shield: 3x25MW
Just my 2 cents
It's a good idea though. Pirates do need an M6...

I was thinking more of fast but not agile. Not being able to turn quickly is 'sort of' remedied by having weapons which have a big impact radius (ie. PSG's...) and many back turrets...Rurouni Storm wrote:Yes, make it fast and agile, but with weaker shields and turret weapons.

It's important for the pirates to have a VERY powerful M6 so that they become more of a threat...
If its meant to be an escort of expensive cargo then PSGs would NOT be a good idea. you don't want to destroy your own convoy every time someone attacks you. Way too much splash damage.
I suggest the same weapon layout as the Boron Hydra 1 x 125Mw shield and the rest of the stats put forward by akrules!.
Don't agree with the capturing bit though. you would gat way too much money way too easily.

Better still... Just make a script that spawns a couple undred pirate M6s across the universe. These M6 could be Argon, Boron, Split, Teladi or Paranid M6s... No need to have a pirate specific model, just change the ownership

Maybe somebody should write a script like that? Perhaps somebody could make request at 'xscripting' or on Egosoft's own scripting forum...?

I know you can stick your own logo in the logo folder and use that, I'm sure you could do it on pirates.
By the way, spawning corvettes for pirates is a really good idea. Not only would it make them be a challenge. Well, more of a challenge, but I myself am a stern believer in the fact that Pirates should PIRATE ships and not build their own. If someone could make such a script would be greatly appreciated. Personally, I am dazzled and confused by the script editor.
If someone could change the entire pirate race to use normal transporters and be very difficult to tell from normal freighters, I would also really appreciate that. Adds some suspense when deciding if you should attack.

then you can create new ships for pirates just easily. Would be hard to only resulpy them with truly captured ships though... what I am missing allright is to find the hidden pirate shipyard though
yeah well i know, they build in pirate stations, still would be fun to add one.. best hidden away deep inside a nebula and/or asteroid field.... and allowing you to buy ships too if you're on good terms with them... though I got no idea what legal possibilities a player has for pirates to like him more...

Well since the response is obviously very good I guess I'll up this one in my priorities... It's something I've meant to do for quite a time because the pirates really become a joke at some point... Look for it on xscripting... It's going to be a long one though, don't expect it before a week or so...
