Kha'ak Invasion - Noob help.
The Kha'ak have invaded ore belt and wipped out everything in the system there are 10-20 small fighters and 2 large carriers. I have about 1 million creds two auto trades (one UT one ST) and a small buster equpied with beta impulse ray emitters and a mass driver 3x5 shields. the argons don't seem to be fussed that part of their civilisation has been blasted off the face of the universe what if anything can i do about it. should I leave well alone or can i some how with a bit of skill and or luck kick the scum balls back to where they came from?
Cheers,
Cheers,
You're going to need to wait a while as your busters shield will die before you get close. Once you get yourself a decent fighter (I'd recommend minimum of an M3 but preferably an M3+), you can take down the fighters.
For the capital ships you'd be best off waiting until you can get yourself a ship that fits PPC's. People have killed the capitals with fighters but it's extremely difficult. Best earlyish method for me is to get an Elephant (Split TL) as it's the cheapest ship that can take PPC's. Load them in the rear turret, get to just in range of your guns but stay outside the range of his Kyons and just adjust your speed so that you stay there and let the guns kill the target. Repeat for the rest.

If you don't mind the ***modified*** tag the race response script is your best bet.
On non modified games it will be a toughie, anything less than the M7 will be extremely difficult.
A tactic that i have come up with is to equip a few busters (more than 5) with Mass drivers and Wasp missiles, set the missile fire probability to 50 or 60% and order them to attack the M1, some busters should survive the engagement, needless to say that the kha'ak fighters should be gone at that time.
An other tactic is the Lasertower Ring of death, just "convince a carrier to follow you to a well placed LT trap.

Alternatively, let the Kha'ak wipe out lots of NPCs, use your buster to lure the Kha'ak off to the far side of the sector and then pick up all the goodies
You're faster than the Kha'ak capital ships so you should be able to draw them off and then run away. The fighters might be an issue, so you may want to wait until you've managed to take them out (possible in the buster, so long as you take them on singly/in small numbers...).

With about 20 lasertowers you might be able to vaporize a carrier... though that costs around 5 million.
Agreed, if you feel like you want more defensive race ships, download LV's Race Response Fleets script. Basically what will happen is...
*Khaak stomping around killing things*
*Three Titans jump in, one from each gate, plus escort fighters*
*Khaak say OH **** *
*Epic space battle to watch at a distance*
*Khaak die. Yay Argon navy!*

thanks all for the answers so i figure i learnt from this thread that i leave well alone )
With out any modifications or scripting to the original game what ship should i am to get to kick their butt back out of my trading space.
If you could give the Name and the Race (i am so new i don't understand the M1 M7 thing yet.)

M1 - Carrier...carries M3-M5 class ships. The Colossus is an M1.
M2 - Destroyer...Think Battleship; lots of big guns and energy to power them. The Titan is an M2.
M3 - Heavy fighter...Slower, beefier with bigger guns and more energy. The Nova is an M3.
M4 - Medium fighter...Average in all ways. The Buster is an M4.
M5 - Light fighter...incredibly fast with tiny shields, small guns, not much energy. Can run circles around opponents or catch fleeing M5s. The Discoverer is an M5.
M6 - Corvette. A "petite Destroyer." Some call it a giant fighter. Lots of energy, bigger than a fighter, big guns, rather big shields, and rather slow.
These are all generalizations of course. Each race has its own quirks in their ships.

And to add to the above list -
M7 - Hyperion. Superbly powerful (some ay unbalancingly so). Sort of like an M6 but better in every way. Unique ship only available as a mission reward. Not used by NPCs
M3+ - Heavy fighter on steriods. Only available from four races (Xenon LX, Split Chimera, Argon Eclipse & Paranid Medusa).
Both of the above types are only available in the latest version (I think they are the latest version, but could be the bonus pack)...

Also see the FAQ.If you could give the Name and the Race (i am so new i don't understand the M1 M7 thing yet.)
There are quite a few threads in a similar vein if you use Search.Dragonshold wrote:thanks all for the answers so i figure i learnt from this thread that i leave well alone )

Generally the fighters get cleared out quite early on, and there are several ways to deal with the capital ships when they're stripped of their escorts, e.g.
- M3 with PSGs or mass drivers, and wasps or drones (sneak in and hide in the back).
- one or more laser towers (get the capship to follow you around just inside LT range).
- M6 with typhoons (or any kind of big missile if you're far enough away and don't mind exploiting).
- TL with BPPC in the rear turret (while running away - BPPCs outrange kyons).
- any kind of M1 or M2 (just kill it).

It sounds like you aren't in the position to take it on so you could just do what my flatmate did in his game. Read on...
1) Wait until the Fighters are destroyed/Go in and kill Fighters one at a time with wasps/gunfire and then jump to one of the Ore Belt gates - then go back in and kill the next Fighter. That way they don't overwhelm you.
2) Attract the attention of the destroyer (use a long range missile or do a flyby) trying not to get yourself killed.
3) Match the Destroyer's speed and set a course anywhere out into deep space.
4) Hit SETA, go and make some dinner, possibly watch some TV or have a chat to whoever you live with for a while.
5) Make your excuses and leave. Get back to your PC and then jump back to the centre of Ore Belt.
Hey presto, the Khaak Destroyer is floundering around 10,000 km from the centre of the system. With any luck he'll be pottering around there for the rest of eternity

Thanks all, lots of good suggestions.
I am still new enough to enjoy playing the game with out exploits but its nice to know if it bugs me that much i can smack em up or pull them out in to the middle of no where (perticularly liked that idea).
At the moment i have decided to let them have ore belt until i can get a destroyer type ship to kick some booty. I may have to change that idea at some point in the not to distant future though as they have just started to systematically invade Boron space and they keep half ganking my UTs.
They are going to so get it when i have enough creds.

You should be able to take out the fighter swarm if you hug a gate. NPCs seem really worried about hitting them and wont fire at you if stick really close to them. My theory is that they don't want to collapse it and make a black hole.
I don't think there's much you can do about the capital ships at this stage though. They'll shoot down any unknown objects you throw at them and I don't think they have any blind spots to speak of.

I have a heavy Kha'ak presence in CBSE..
- gotta do something about it..
[ external image ]
- I don't like the idea of the enemy being in Argon Space
- as you can see, they've chewed up most of the sector already..!!
