But I don't have the option to bid? How do I bid?

You wont be able to bid on it until the bid itself reaches 600 million credits.

Then you will have to bid 615 million to get the bidding going again.

Ah hell. So, uh, should I just keep checking really frequently or something?

You should always check BBS messages because of the many opportunities they provide. By doing so you will definitely be kept up to date on the avarice bidding.

I barely ever look at them, mainly because I never have the freighter/transport/fighter the missions require.

As your game progresses and your reputation increases those messages can be quite profitable.

Oh trust me, I'd noticed. 600k is more than a little tempting for a transport mission. But I'm never IN or NEAR one of my transports when it comes up.

Equip your transport with a jumpdrive and when you see one of those messages jump your transport to your location and switch ships and then accept mission. Those missions usually stay up there for a little while. Just dont leave and come back. Then it will probably be gone.

Just tried, the boron shipyard destroyed my transport, wasn't enough space to dock. Cute. Something VERY bad about XTM, destoys 1 mil tankers.

They usually stay on the BBS long enough for you to:
* Call into sector the jumping ship
* Undock
* Change to required ship
* Dock and take mission

Whenever I want to go mission hunting I hop in my TS and go from station to station with a TL parked in the middle of the sector loaded with an M3, M4 and M5. If I find a mission I like that requires one of these I just call them from the TL. And if you're worried about losing the mission just wait till your ship is docked and switch ships from the personal menu.

When does avarice first pop up on the BBS? On my last playthrough I had the option to bid, but was 150 Million short. This time, I'm prepared, it just won't show up...

I figured, meh, whatever. I just moved in to the sector, and I guess I'll buy it if the option ever pops up. If any race wants to tell me I'm wrong, they can feel free to move into either gate. The OWPs I set up won't mind the target practice.

Waiting for them to dock takes too much time. You shall have the transporter in your ship, and the landing computer in every one.

The moment you see the mission, you:

1. order the needed ship to fly to you
2. undock and fly toward it
3. below 5 km beam over in the other ship
4. fly with it directly to the station and
use the LC at 4,99 km distance

The missions don´t care if you docked or not, they just exist for a randomly defined time, so the above ist the "surest" way to get them.

Cheers
