slightly increase of mass driver damage

hi all

i just wanted to ask you something...
because i'm really into those mass driver thingies, it really screws me up, that they nearly don't do any damage at all...

so i wanted to ask you if you know a mod(or a script?) that slightly increases the mass driver damage...just that they have a use...i don't want to create a gama hept that penetrates the shields, i want just a better mass driver...
is someone of you able to create such a mod?
because i'm a real noob on the modding level...

i hope you guys can help me to make the mass drivers more cost efficient

See the red 12? Simply change this to what youd like the damage to be per bullet :D

damn it...why do i strat writing german... (curse me, please!!!)

okay...so, english...

i don't know what to do with those numbers...
do i have to put them into an editor or how to pack them into the right format?
and are there any reference numbers that i don't increase the damage too hard?

would be great if you could help me...beside that the numbers are a big step forward...thx ^^

Ok, first you must Unpack your game before you can do anything.

Step 1: Download Stone D's "StoneD's X2/XT PatcherV09b"
You can find it at this link:
http://www.the-commander.com/x2dload.htm

Step 2: Run program, click utilites, click Unpack DAT

Step 3: go to your X2 directory, you will see 3 files 01.CAT, 02.CAT and 03.CAT

Step 4: unpack each of the 3 files (Note, 01.cat will take awhile, be patient)

step 5: go into your X2 directory and move/delete:
01.cat
02.cat
03.cat
01.dat
02.dat
03.dat

Step 6: you will see 3 new directorys in the X2 directorys
XData-01
XData-02
XData-03

Step 7: Go into XData-01 and Move all the folders found there into the X2 main directory

Step 8: delete XData-01 folder

Step 9: do the same thing with XData-02 and then lastly XData-03
***Atention***
Make sure you allow each folder to overwrite any existing data
do the folders in order, XData-01, XData-02 and then XData-03

Step 10: run StoneD's X2/XT PatcherV09b, click utilities, then click decompress PCK, then go into the Types folder and pick TBullets.pck

Step 11: Exit Stone d's program, go into types directory and you will notice that there is now a TBullets.TXT file, remove the TBullets.pck file to a safe location.

Step 12: Open TBullets.txt file and you will find the info I posted above. find the 12 where indicated in above post and change to desired number. right now its 12, that means each bullet does 12 points of damage, whatever you change this number to will be the new damage per shot.

PS you do NOT have to re-pack the TXT file back to a PCK file, just leave it as a txt

so...

i tried this already three times today (i already thanked you, shadowtech, for your advices ^^) and screwed it up, every time i tried...
fortunately i got back ups, but i realised that i'm even too silly, just to add a mod to my game...i really can't manage to do so...

so i guess even though there were a mod, i would be unable to eben integrate it into my game :(

but thanks for all
maybe there will be some day a tweak by egosoft or a possibility to add mods in another way...even though i wonder why i seem to be the only one that has problems with this stuff

Well all hopes not lost yet, OlisJ has a program that packs Mods up and only requires that you place the mod in a directory, In fact he has a Mod out now (75 MW shields and HQ) that you can download and use now without unpacking your game, I dont use his packing tools cause it requires .Net to be on your computer, and I havent downloaded it yet, not sure why your haveing problems.

You install the game, install the patches, unpack the 3 cat/dat files, move all those folders in the ##Xdata folders into your ?:\Program Files\Enlight\X2 - The Threat Directory and delete the .Dat and .Cat files, in your ?:\Program Files\Enlight\X2 - The Threat directory (theres 6 files you have to delete there) and your games unpacked. (Delete empty ##Xdata folders) Then go into your ?:\Program Files\Enlight\X2 - The Threat\Types folder and decompres the TBullets.pck file, wich will create a TBullets.txt file, REMOVE the Tbullets.pck file from the directory, and leave the TBullets.txt file there, then mod the detail there you want to change (AS seen above)

Have you done all these steps?
You say its not working, whats exactly's not working?
Are you remembering to delete/move all the files I mentioned?

i tried to do it step by step, but i think i always did something wrong...
don't know what exactly...

i think i just wait till the damage get fixed or that there is an easier way to do it...
i'm to scared already to definately screw my saved games up...

but thank you very much...it's a real detailed manual, but i already said so: i'm to stupid for moddin :D
