Terran Plot Problems In Sector M148: Workaround
Hello everyone.
Unfortunately, as some of you know, there is an issue with one of the Terran Plot missions where you must deliver 200 units of Teladianium to the sector M148. Many ships in the sector will go red and start to attack you making the mission close to impossible. Rest assured that a fix is being tested.
The Workaround
In Omicron Lyrae, there is a ship named 'Exterminator'. From the character on this ship, you will be able to start a new plot line which will take you from Omicron Lyrae to Black Hole Sun.
After the mission in Black Hole Sun, you will be granted full access to M148 and shall not be bothered any more.

Come watch me on Twitch where I occasionally play several of the X games
Or you could send in a freighter with the teladianium, which they will not attack, then fly yourself in with the advanced discoverer (with upgraded speed), which will have no trouble avoiding enemy fire.
Now, as both ships are docked at the military outpost, you can switch to the freighter (or whatever ship you used) and it will count as if you delivered the teladianium. I initially thought it was supposed to be that way, i reasoned it was supposed to contribute to the 'think' part of the game.

I did a similar method to this but having a TP swoop in to pick them up. But you still have the stations agro against you and some of the fighters too. The Exterminator mission method doesn't have this unfortunate "side effect" as far as I know.

When I first suggested Xenon_Slayer's solution in a different thread, I thought the mission itself wasn't bugged, it was just Egosoft allowing the player to take different approaches to the same solution.
I still restarted the Terran plot, because for some reason I cant seem to complete the second objective in 'Eyes and Ears' despite any of the suggested work arounds. Im still enjoying the game, and despite some balancing issues (15+ P's and escorts spawning during a single XI mission), I still think its much more polished than X3R was when it first came out.

This seems to be a quick and simple work around but with one major drawback for me, I can't seem to pick up the mission from the exterminator. Does the mission have any specific requirements?

Currently in my mission log I have the M148 mission and the Goner temple construction mission. Could the latter be conflicting with it (only 2 storylines in progress at once?)

Try increasing your combat rank and your Argon reputation.Rumillion wrote:I found the exterminator ship, but the pilot wont give me any mission.

more "work" than "workaround"
that "workaround" can't work for me since no one told me that you
so i had to cancel the mission from the exterminator. will i ever be able to get it again? if not, there's another bug to be fixed since it is way too unfair the way it is now.

virtually need a fleet to repel the xenon attack. try to destroy a Xenon Q with a meager M4 (elite). that won't work even if you don't get hit.

I'm not bragging but I found these fights rather easy to be honest in my Scimitar with 6 EMPs. I've done this mission twice now. The second time I got Xenon but I'm pretty sure the first time I got Kha'ak, including some fancy crystaline looking M6s which were worth a fortune. I got something like 3 million for completing this!

Hi,
I'm an 'Argon Protector of the Federation [L]' and militant 9% yet I do not get the mission option from Exterminator either. What ranks were people when they got this mission from the Exterminator?
I'm currently on the mission to deliver the 200x Teladianium to M148.
I could still do this mission other ways as per examples given in this post but I want to check out the Exterminator mission.
Cheers,
Scoob.

yeah, i had some nice run-ins with random fighting missions, but since i only did a few to get my rank which was about "instructor", i'm quite suprised that a mission that first was indicated as "easy" turned into something that eliminated all friendly assistance and was unbeatable. so i'm more interested in whether i can get the mission again at a later point or need a complete restart. the sick joke is that i couldn't complete the mission, but couldn't postpone it either since the (bugged) story mission led me through that sector. i had no jumpdrive and even when i had no coordinates since i never went to the sectors behind that one before.
so my main question is: am i screwed?
...and to make this a bit more on-topic: i need that mission so i can get into that argon sector, so i'm not off-topic per sé, ok?

Easy way around this:
Install Cycrow's cheats from the X3TC Scripts and Modding forum.
Set up a hotkey for the cheat menu.
When you enter the sector, press your hotkey.
Press Enter on the default menu selection (Change Target Object), press Enter again to select your current sector.
Select any ship that is red to you, then select "Change relation" and set it to "friend".
Repeat for all red ships and stations and you're good to go.

I'd settle at the moment for not crashing every time I change to a ship with the telladium. I figured out on another run that I could SETA in a circle round the military outpost and no one would attack, though I did have to go out and reagro them when they went after my hauler at one point.
Is there any known workaround for the crash to desktop bug, or am I, like everyone else, going to be forced to start from scratch yet again (had to restart after a day's play because of another bug with this mission, where I was told to follow a trading station instead of the girl who sets up this infiltration mess) to play out the storyline?
