TC: Flak Wirdness oO

Anyone else noticed that Flak Artillery arrays working just fine blowing things up left and right, then all of a sudden stop hitting at all?

Honestly? I've never noticed them *ever* hit anything at all...

Was used to X3:R where a cap ship fitted with flak would pretty much end anything smaller than an M6 instantly... Now all they seem to do is make lots of UNNESSISARILY LOUD noise.

Here's what the manual says for the two flak types:
FLAK ARTILLERY ARAY
The Flak Artillery Array is a new weapon that fires
bursts of energy into space, acting as a defensive
barrier that stops most missiles and light fighters.
CLUSTER FLAK ARAY
Based on the Teladi-developed Flak Artillery Array,
the recently developed Argon Cluster Array makes
several compromises in exchange for using deadly
cluster ammunition which explodes at its maximum
range into multiple smaller projectiles, covering a
greater area with devastating shrapnel.
Is that a slight change of roles from X3:R? Maybe I'm just reading it incorrectly. The 'new weapon' under the FAA description throws me a little bit. Is the new bit a mistake that should have gone onto CFA?

I've noticed my terran flac occasionally not working effectively, but only against Khaak scouts, so I think they were actually dodging it. However, I don't think they even FIRE in SETA or OOS.

That happens a lot [to me] in X3R when the fps drops dead .
Same for PBE.
Try increasing the fps.
Eye killed suzy -- and enjoyed it ... oh,wait she's still there ... :D
Why taint the Vanilla ?

nop, most weapons dont fire under SETA, and nothing ever shoots in OOS :P only the total weapon strength of the ship is calculated there...

And, my flak usually hits and destroys everything smaller than M6 ridicioulessly fast, but sometimes, it seems like it almost jams and fires right through the target. This happened to me twice now and I dont recall how I fixed it the first time. :(

I can't tell ... I don't have TC.
Lower graphics,no sound filters[worked for me in X3R] ...
Or maybe add more RAM. :roll:

How can you even exepct to run X3TC w/o having a 6GHz LN cooler c2q?

Actually im running a 6.4ghz CPU with a overclocked 8800GTX and 2gb DDR3 ram and some nice Raptor HD's. :p

Oh oh running on lowest possible gfx settings cept for resolution @ 1680x1040

I must say the flak is exceptionally loud compared to any other sound and music effect in the game. Unnecessarily Loud.

You mean they havent turned it down from Reunion?? The only thing i hated running through xenon space was hearing the annoying loud flak going off from there capital ships, even on the otherside of the sector with them shooting at other ships, i could hear it so loud like it was right next to me :o


Was this intentional or what?

That's what he meant with increasing your FPS.

In Frame 1 the flak bullet is 300m before the ship, in Frame 2 it's 400m past the ship.
It never impacted.

In Reunion I fixed this by decreasing the bullet speeds of Flak and PBE to something around 1500-2000 instead of 7000.

Yeah right, my Soundsystem (900W) is blowing me away each time these Babies doing their work.
BTW: I´ve been killed by the Flak's twice. Both times by the Argon Titan (friendly fire).
