I've dropped them back a level and I'm getting less of the colour patches. As it appears random, I sure it's a graphics memory mapping problem.

I can't say I have, may be a few less multicoloured builds in Fallout 4, but I don't known if it's some of the game settings I've changed.

I'm getting the blank screen on cold boot problem at the moment, going to remove the drivers and take another run at it.
Selecting 'Display' in the Radeon Settings causes the application to crash.
I'm going to try and remove these drivers, they seem reluctant to leave, the un-install system locks up.

Update:
After using a driver removal tool, too force them from my system, these new drivers would not install.
This was followed by removing the partial install, which messed my interface settings up.
Rolled back to 16.11.5, and on third attempted, although being told the drivers were not installed, upon reboot they were.
Original problem was that the new driver software installed but the new display driver was not, which caused them to clash.
Trying to remove the software caused everything to break as the un-installing software was looking for the files that were not there.
This new driver simply refuses to install, even in safe mode with AV disabled.

An update to the Update:
Reboot to Safe mode
Removed graphics driver via device manager.
Reboot to safe mode
Remove AMD software via control panel.
Reboot to safe mode
Select the new driver, form the extracted package, via Device manager.
So I had the new driver but no sofware.
Reboot to safe mode
Custom install with the display driver not selected.
This gave me the right driver and the right software, but they could not see eachother.
Cold boot.
Fingers crossed, all appears to be talking to each other.
The error output from the installation process. Not the most helpful error log.

Hmmm, most unfortunate, Terre..

- if things get desperate, I find that using the DDU by Wagnard is a good way to get shot of old GFX drivers..
- it's very aggressive, but totally thorough

- follow the instructions very carefully..

- there's a thread here:
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=379505
- which explains it's development over time, and gives some insight into the way it does things..
- the whole universe is running in BETA mode - we're working on it.. beep..!! :D

Thanks Bug, that's the tool I used to clear everything out and start again.
Installing the driver separately from the software appears to have worked, as all the features of the new drivers are available.

I didn't bother to include the ReLive bit during the install
mainly because it just seems like an extra gizmo to get wired-up about..

- after the update, the driver version didn't change from the previous 16.12.1 version
- guess that's because most of this driver is about the ReLive bit.. (??)
- the whole universe is running in BETA mode - we're working on it.. beep..!! :D

After a bit of a look about.

Code: Select all

16.12.2 Driver Version 16.50.2001
16.12.1 Driver Version 16.50.2001
It looks like the changes were made in the associated software.

I still had to install the driver separately from the software, utterly daft.

A good article on the Radeon Vega due out later this year:

http://www.pcworld.com/article/3153726/ ... cards.html

This will also drive down the price of the Nvidia GTX 1080 imho which is a good thing for Nvidia/Gsync fans.

I am using Release version 'Crimson Relive 17.1.2' package dated 30 Jan 2017 ( Driver Packaging Version 16.50.2711-170125a-310791E ) with Win10 x64 and a Radeon RX480 card and all seems very stable so far. The filename for the download package includes 'non-WHQL' but the driver is reported as WHQL for Win10 x64 in the DxDiag after installation.
