Mobile Drilling System, what ship can have it?

Say, what ship can use the mobile drilling system? Is it an add-on to the ship laser or what? It is expensive, takes a huge space but how do I install it?

Ok, so colour codes represents different types of lasers, now, how do I know which type of laser corresponds to what colour?

Is the mining equipment Grey, blue, green???

The manual lacks quite a bit of basic information.

the teladi transport can carry a mobil drilling rig in the rear turret you can get on in siezewell showroom. i have found no way of automating the drilling of asteroids but a ship can pick up the fragment with the ore collecter and special command upgrade hope that helps

For mining I prefer a Paranid Demeter although for my mining only game I will be limited to a Vulture (Better cargo but a rear turret drill). There are other ships (including the Hercules TL for some reason).

There is a script to automate ore collection and there is an option to automate asteroid drilling (which I haven't yet used). Check www.xscripting.com

Thanks's for all the advice since I'm aiming for a mining career, now I just need some small advice for getting said equipment.

1. Where can I find a Paranid Demeter and is it possible to get one at all after mission 2? (got a crappy transport and the small fighter ship)

2. What MINIMUM equipment is needed?
2.1: Mining laser
2.2: Mineral Scanner
2.3: Mineral scoop
2.5: Other?
