XBTF - audio/video reset to default after restart (Vista64)

I have the US version 1.9 CD. XBTF installed and played right away without problem on Vista-64, I can't believe it even runs 1920x1200 out of the box. really awesome for old game. but all the settings go back to default once I quit and restart. Is there a way to manually fix them?

My system has Vista Ultimate 64/ATI 4850.

Also, are there any high resolution texture mods for XBTF? My eyes need time to readjust after playing Fallout 3 and Dead Space..

Make sure you have the 'Use Settings' box ticked on the launcher screen.

Also, try the compatibility settings at 'Windows 98'

X-BTF bugs up unless I have it set at that. (On Windows XP)
