Are they considered as fighters and so can dock in M1's?

nope. Classed as "big ships" so they can't dock internaly.

wait, so they dock like an M7? they cant dock at stations?

They count as being the same size as M6's and can dock at Most stations
Too many M3's Die by crashing into their own missiles

Yep they are "corvette" size so can dock at normal stations.
