IBL's - Possibly Restart my game?
Can anyone answer if IBL factories respawn?
I've checked the locations where they should be, but they've long since been blown up (paranid fleet got a smack for that), and other sectors are dead too.
I also only have 1 Plasma Burst Gen forge left, so thats a dieing breed too ...
Do these places respawn... or should I look into restarting my game and getting these places protected as soon as possible (will be alot harder in 1.4 - due to money not being easy)....
Also, how often do people find these weapons drop / survive boarding ops?
Thanks in Advance -

Bad News. They haven't on my game ( I got a bit carried away with the Yaki).
Good News. IBL's can be found on alot of capital ships. So a solution would be to capture some of tthose ships.
An example would be the Boreas
If you use a fully trained Marine team with atleast 2-3 in fighting you should be able to board a Boreas using a M7M like the Cobra.

From my own experience, not very often. I captured a few Agamemnon M7's, and only once out of maby 6 or so, did it have any IBL's left on it - however I did get a full comp of twelve out of it.
WildAce has a point tho, adding scripts is a good way to just add content that should be in there anyway - you still have to earn the rep + credits for the stuff, and it just removes the frustration from the game of always worrying about them being blown up.
Capturing ship with weapons onboard....really rare but you can always blow up couple dosen pirate caracks which should net you some of those when they die. (or any other ship that happends to carry them like the Yaki TL for example)
Although you could always get Tresher that can mount IBL's and PPC's up front which would solve the issue. (unless you really want some other ship that is)

Try boarding Yakis They have more eastereggs than the normal player may think.
First, Yakis are never in short supply. There are always plenty caps on their way. The easiest are the Ryu, unfortunately you need boarding pods, but Ryus have only 4 fighters for their escort job. Very easy done in a M6 or M3. After that switch to your M7M, take down the shields and fire just one boarding pod (5 5* marines) and the ship is yours. There's always a chance that you get 8-10 IBLs. If not you have just acquired 14 million credits If you like to keep it, it's a decent TL with the qualities of a M7 and quite a decent hangar. Better than the elephant in my opinion.
Also, if you have 5 5* marines and you can get an Akuma in firing range, that's the jackpot. It's not uncommon that they have a dozen IBLs or more on board. Take out the escort with flails (not very hard on max range... use adv navsats) and take down the shields, fire your boarding pod and some flails to protect it / keeping the shields down, and wait for your marines to finish their job. If the Akuma just has PPCs on board, wait 10 minutes and the next one spawns.... to re-ing an Akuma at the PHQ takes 4 days, that should give a hint how much it is worth when you sell it Who needs the old Xenon patrols when he has 5 5*marines and a never ending stream of Yakis
IBL's will be your last problem... the main problem is where to store all the credits
Some nice side effects:
- blue Dukes Haven and their ships -> SCS
- 99.9% of all pirates will simply LOVE you
- Paranids consider a new pontifex maximus

I blew-up the IBL factories in my game (moment of madness). I was thinking of restarting, until I captured a ship with some on. Since then I haven't looked back. I now have over 250 IBL's from captured ships.
The best ship I found for IBL's is the Boreas that spawns in Aladna Hill. IF you capture that you sometimes get quite a few IBL's .

There's one in
in my game. But i just went around capping ryus and reloading mid boarding until i had enough to satisfy me. Then i just made friends with the yaki using the hub. The still won't sell them to me yet, but as soon as i need them. I'll do missions until they sell them to me. then it should be pretty simple.[/spoiler]

At least not in my game anyway.

They make the Panther and the Tiger into mini-M1/2s. That alone is worth getting them for. ISRs, CIGs amd so on just don't do the damage at range. 4-6 IBLs and you are laughing at any ship in the game and still moving at a bearable speed!EmperorJon wrote:IBLs aren't even that good, in my opinion. Not worth restarting for.

IIRC every game start has 3 IBL forges, 2 in weavers and 1 in LL. I have had the 1 in LL destroyed but it was replaced after awhile, I even bumped into teh TL that was on the GOD given mission. Aside from the fabs the best source of IBL's in all my gamesis the Boreas's in aldna hill, also once you have a decent combat rank nearly every capital ship you destroy will drop some.

Now that's interesting - what sort of TL was it? (i.e. who's supplying the pirates with IBL factories?). Have to keep an eye out for TLs heading that way in my game - maybe I could steal it & have an IBL factory of my own...insolent1 wrote:IIRC every game start has 3 IBL forges, 2 in weavers and 1 in LL. Teladi Alba, I have seen them replace PBG forges in danna chance aswell.
Damn I never thought about robbing the TL
But since its on a GOD mission it would be buggy to say the least
Another weird thing is the one that was replacing the IBL fab in LL came from IZ but it went IZ-HoP-AR-SG-LL rather than the quicker way IZ-NI-CD-LL.
