[IDEA] Hard mode. A permanently issued death penalty from all races

(Maybe except from yaki and pirates)

Script can either on a regular basis set your rank to lowest for all races, or it can prevent you from getting any rep in the first place. Would need to set your rep to the lowest at initiation anyways though.

Could allso have an option to turn the rep dampner off, so you would start at the worst rep, but have the opportunity to gain rep.

You can do that now.

Create a start with minimum reps.

And there is now a mission that autoloads at game start that reduces your combat rank, so changing that for the other ranks would allow you to suppress rank rises. (Its not released yet, but the code is on a thread still on page 1.)

Starting with all mimimum reps just means you can never buy or sell anything. To do so you have to choose some race that tradable and keep a decent rank with them.

I wonder if it would be possible without involving egosoft to make a start like this without getting the modified tag. To bad programming is totally greek for me :(

You don't need a custom start. It's a short and simple script to set notorities and relations. There's no minimum notoriety, I think it's an integer (unless you count the overflow limt).
You will get the modified tag, though, but you're in the wrong forum if you want to avoid that, mate.

apricotslice is right, though. You would need some modded pirate shipyards and the like to make for the possibility to buy anything. But might be interesting in a sense to live as pirate off nothing but salvage in a game. You might at least want a script that somehow helps repair your ships.

That's what the repair laser in your suit is for. Would take a while, but would certainly do the trick.
