raising money for Avarice??

Post by subzero22 » Thu, 19. Feb 09, 21:10

I've played a few games and in both games I haven't been able to get enough money in time before it sells. I've read a few faq's on how to earn money but I still can't earn the creds fast enough to even begin thinking of bidding on Avarice.

IIRC with the Bala Gi update you could bid on Avarice (Redemption) a second time around if you hadn't been able to the first time. Not sure how much time needs to pass before it bid shows back up. The bidding can go over a billion so make sure you have extra loot or wares worth lots of money to trade if you need more cash. The majority of the money that I used to buy Avarice was selling weapons dropped from Xenon J's & K's and the occassional high paying assassinations (10-30+mil).

At the time I didn't know the price would go up so I ended up selling a sizable chunk of my weapon stockpile (mainly gamma ppc's since those were worth 900k+ each) to be able to continue bidding. Eventually I won the bid at 825mil and as a result had about 7mil left in my account. As a result I had to go back to the Xenon sectors and trash more of their ships. The last batch of weapons that I sold off netted me just over 870mil (including 450 gamma ppc's which accounted for over half of the money, this was after purchase of Avarice).

If fighting gear up the Former Yacht of the Prefect Maxiumus and you can take on any ship (with proper loadout, ablilty, & luck) with the exception of Kha'ak M1 & M2 vessels and make a killing, literally.

They have assasin jobs that pay that much?

Oh and at the beginning of the game cause I'm about to restart x3 since I haven't played in awhile how long did it take you to get that much money?

The short answer is I worked out how much money I needed to be earning per hour in order to make the 700 odd million by day 9 (I think) and set that as my target.

I managed it with a 12x Space Fuel and Spaceweed complex in Rolk's Fate, it also supplied the secondary resources needed for that sector.

I also had a self sufficient 2x SPPXL complex in ore belt that made a ton of cash (if you're using commercial agents train them on the weed/booze complex then send them to the power plex as in a power plex EVERYTHING is a secondary resource which rookie CAGs can't deal in)

And then I had 20 UT's in Demeter Super Freighters (the best compromise between speed and cargo in Reunion in my opinion)

I earned enough cash that way to be able to put a bid in on Avarice (700 mill by day 11 is it?)

The beauty of weed/booze is it's always always sold out and you don't have to build it all at once, just start with a single distillery L and Wheat Farm L and build on that using the fabs own money store.

Oh and keep opening up the map when you're not building or setting up UT's.

Getting the first 10 million is the hardest bit I think. First thing I'd recommend is a sector trader in Empire's Edge. Then another once the first one hits level 12 and can use a Jump Drive. Then once you have your 10 mill 1 Booze, 1 Wheat + 1 freighter (recommend comercial agent) to service it, set your booze selling price to average -1 (727cr) and never try getting your CAG to sell for better profit. Not worth it. The sector police will make him drop all his booze and then they'll shoot it. Which is why I think booze is so profitable - very little of it reaches it's destination so more is sent ofr and the market rarely reaches saturation.

I must admit though once I achieved the target of being able to bid for Avarice I thought? do I really want this? and settled for "Ownership" of president's end. I set up my PHQ there and kept my (by then) 800million or so. The AI never builds there, it's central to core sectors, the only thing you miss is the prestige of your name on the sector map, but really it's still there in spirit because you know you could buy a sector.

Yes and your target will be on a TL, then a carrier, & then a destroyer (as your fighting rank gets higher) all three mentioned will have a 4 corvette escort as well.

My ranks
Race ranks - Max with all except Goner
Fight rank - Legend
Trading rank - Magnate

Ummm need to remember....Originally when the first bid showed up I had about 20 mil give or take. Did a lot of trading/selling captured ships that I had no use for. Timewise....it took a while (IIRC somewhere between 160-240hrs, I think....it's been a while since I played R).

When you are able do the Bala Gi missions go for it as the second to last mission will be worth your while.

cool and thanks for all your help and tips.

I think it's kinda funny how you can have a factory making space fuel, but can't have a ship delivering it. :P

bit offtopic
hmm im thinking of starting a new x3 soon this will be my mission just as soon as i finish spelling my name with stations in ore belt with x2.
With using every big roid i can have 20 CF 20 spp's 20 CR's 20 CB's.
Which is over 60 which is how many i need for the coordinates of my name.

Also for a bonus when i hit insert its gonna have my girlfriends name. Ive worked it all out on excel and that nice web app.

Yes, day 20 is the finishing date at which point you can no longer bid. But either day 9 or 11 (I can't remember which) is the day you can first put a bid down and I believe the earlier you put a bid down the cheaper you're likely to get it. I can't say for certain because I never actually bought it but I certainly got a kick out of knowing I could have :)

As I said PE became my home eventually.

I've just put down a 12xTeladianium L complex there to supply my hub (its in the Elana's<>PE gate pair) Should produce 173k or Teladianium in 24 game hours. I think that may have been overkill. Oh well

Hmm luke how did you get such a huge complex so early in the game?

That's my main problem I can't seem to earn enough creds early enough in the game to barly start building my first station.

Nothing personal, I see it a LOT, but it's answers like this that I find really annoying and unhelpful in this community.

He’s possibly not in a Buster any more, but I’m sure when he was he either took the policy of ‘if its red its dead’ to gain rep (my fav way, I can kill M6’s in a Buster as I’m sure Luke can)... or he worked hard to get a better ship (capping maybe? Also in X3R there was about 15mils worth of free ships (one was a Nova that in the hands of an fairly experienced player could kill anything that stood in his way and could wipe a Xenon sector clean)) along with the free ships there was free creates of goods that also amounted to several mils worth, so just exploring the right places you could have a good ship and cash to get a small empire on the go without firing a shot and it would only take you less than a gameday to claim it all.

The X-Universe is a learning experience, your first game you progress slowly as you learn, your second game is much faster, and all restarts after that just increase that progression speed to almost unbelievable levels (in some eyes), my advice to all new(ish) players is to just take it easy and enjoy the experience whilst you learn until you have a firm understanding of how you should go next time, then restart with your new found knowledge. Don’t worry about how others progress but read their advice and think about it whilst you play (maybe try some of their advice out).

At the start in small ships (M4/3) Xenon sectors are for experienced players, rewards are high in bounty (both cash and rep, and rep makes money), but failure is also just as high, it not an easy task (thank the gods for salvage insurance).

If you prefer I could provide a step by step list of how I went from a Buster to getting the Hyperion to aquiring the PHQ.

When starting out with a Buster (depending on which start you use) pick off pirates and hopefully get a ship/weapons from these or do little missions like assassinations (target will most likey be in a fighter or freighter) or trade (if you are able) until you have enough credits to buy a TS. Use the TS to trade in profitable wares like soja beans, ore or illegal goods like spacefuel/spaceweed. As time passes your ranks (race/fight/trade) will climb and you will be able to afford more/bigger freighters/fighters and recieve bigger payouts for any missions that you choose to do.

By starting with a small complex :)

I dunno is day 9 or 11 early in the game?

Seriously, do whatever it takes to get your first UT up and running in empire's edge. First one can be a small ship, a merc or whatever but eventually you'll be wanting big ones.

You need
Merc - 450k ish
Trade Mk3 500k ish
Fight 1
Fight 2 call it 10k for both (just aproximates).
Jump Drive (may as well stick it in at the begining) 100k

So that's approximately 1.1 million in startup cost for the ship,

Then you need about a 500k float for the fledgeling sector trader to use. So 1.6 million.

You can get that in a buster I'm positive. That's just a 2 maybe 3 capped Pirate M3's sold to a shipyard.

After that just keep making new ST/UT's each time one gets to level 12.

And as you build up the cash start building fabs and it all adds up quite quickly, the more money you have the more quickly you can make money.

The hardest part is the beginning until you get your 1st complex or 1st UT

In my last game, I did (start as Bankrupt Assassin) :
- Outfits for my mamba (chosed the fighter path for money raising) -- for others starts you can get the free mamba raider.
- Capped a LX (feel more comfortable in this one)
- Wandered around 18B, SPG to BHS looking for Xenon Invasions Missions. Can go up to Getsu Fune. (at low rank, there are no J/K).
- Kill pirates for rank/capping. Stack up some HammerHeads (unknown missiles) for when K start to appear. Assassinations missions are good ones too, for some free stuff.
- Built a Space Fuel in Circle of Labor (close to the shipyard for hiring TL, there were a weat farm there and good SPP nearby). Put a single CAG on it.

By now it's more illegals products complexes (only energy dependants) , more XIM, more assassination missions.

I had near a dozen of 2L complexes around the universe and enougth cash when the bidding started.

Idea:

Script Editor -> addmoney -> type 1 billion -> flying in your new sector.

Yeah, that's why the US economy has gone down the tubes. :D

Bank -> borrow money -> type 1 billion -> flying in your new Lear jet.
