X3R Xenon and the advanced satellite
the bala gi mission where you place the advance satellite is impossible....for me. the xenon hate me and they wont let me get the satellite placed. When i get to 0,0,0 they destroy me or the satellite.
any tips?
any tips?
That ones easy, what ship are you using? I used the fastest m5 I could get, with a jump drive and zip in there, place the sat and jump straight out. They didn't get anywhere near me. Give that a go:)

Fly in, fly down (out of the ecliptic) then use the move to position command to fly towards 0,0,0. When you see your speed start to drop, eject the satellite and hit tab, then jump out. Disco Hauler is one of the best ships for this.
Re: how close - I think 500m tolerance is a good ballpark figure, but bear in mind that distance is 3D. So 500,0,0 may be fine but 500,500,500 may not!

You're probably better off either using one M2 to clear the sector, or one Discoverer to run past the Xenon to place the satellite. A fleet of M3's and M6's under AI control will definitely take losses, and may not be able to deal with the capital ships.pengwin wrote:Ok, i'll have another go. Im really thinking about just buying and equipping a fleet of Nova's and M6's to come and clear the sector, i've got the cash to do it.
Did you try the Jump and Fly to Position command?
Use the ff. steps.
1.) Buy the fastest ship you can find.
2.) Equip that ship with a jump drive and all the necessary software.
3.) Use the Jump and Fly to Position command to jump to the sector
- On the sector map, filter the view by ships. This will force the cursor to the 0,0,0 position.
4.) Jump and fly away.
5.) Upon arriving at the spot, drop the satellite and jump out.
Hope that helps.

Forgot to add that #3 (resetting to 0,0,0) will only work as long aspengwin wrote:#3....did not know that, gonna try it asap, gotta write a speech first.bravoman wrote:Did you try the Jump and Fly to Position command?

1.) You don't have a satellite already existing in the sector (as it is considered a ship).
2.) There are no laser towers in the sector.
I did this mission for the first time the other night, you don't need to be a 0,0,0
I guessed a spot that was close to the middle (unfortunately right next to a bloody xenon base).
Flew in with a Nova, had to kill a couple of fighters and dropped it and jumped out immediately.
I think there is quite a decent tolerance for "the middle"
