The regrettable problems you have been encountering with your wingman have been reviewed by The Ministry of Misinformation.
In such circumstance the following proceedures are advised:

1. All Blastclaw specification space vehicles should be armed with Ion Disruptors.
This will ensure minimal hull damage in the event of friendly fire incidents.

2. It has been noted that many pilots fail to use missile launchers effectively.
Reviewing the specifications of your wingman, Hammerhead missiles are advised, providing optimal explosive yield.

3. In all circumstances missile launch probability should be set to 100%.

Specifically, you should never trust MoM.

so was the advise worth following, i mean using hammer head missiles and setting missile fire probability to 100 percent.

I might just try it for my own wingmen. :)

Actually, you can trust the MoM to always provide "good" misinformation. ;)

The state of AI and the nature of the "Wingman" feature mean that one should never use wingmen. At least not in X2/X3R (IME). I have not received the MoM memo about the state of AI in X3TC yet, so I could tell at most non-informed misinformation about that game at this point. But as intuitive guess I'm sure the 100% hammers yield final solution to the wingman question. :|

Worked perfecly well for one teeny tiny flaw, however instant vaporising is actually a lot quicker and less painful death than than being barbecued

 ...and now for my next trick, I will follow further the advice of the MoM and supply ALL my wingmen with Ion D's...That should work :D
