Getting Tractor beams as a enemys of the Paranids?

i having a bit trouble to get one tractor beam... im playing as a enemy of the paranids and well, they are the only who produces them...

I tried to blow up the fabs, but they only droped a random amount of his resources, no tractor beams :S

any ideas?

Other than being nice to the Paranid....start scanning Paranid or any ship in general and hope one has a TB on board. And maybe you'll get lucky and get one on a boarding op or as a weapon drop.


Edit: Or watch what ships dock at a TB fac and jump 'em when they leave (if the scan proves fruitful).

Don't the Split sell them as well?

I think they used to sell the factories in X3R, anyway.

nope, there's only 1 sector in TC that has tractor beam fabs (and the factory for sale at the shipyard), and that's a paranid sector.

Your only shot is to hope a TS lands and buys some and you talk him into dropping it for you.

I tried blowing them up too, even with a full inventory of 8, they never drop :(

i think destrying the fabs wast a good idea :S

oh well... i think is time for a little picknic in Third Redemption, blowing up everything but the shipyard and the TL and wait until GOD misses the Tractor beam fabs....

lol, gl with that, I think I blew up the fabs in my pirate game on day 3, I played till day 17, they were never replaced.

Since the player is about the only person who has a use for Tractor Beams it's not too surprising GoD won't rebuild them.

I'm pretty sure no one trades Tractor Beams, I don't see them in stock at any eqd. So scanning traders is probably useless. I thought of blowing up the fabs too, but if they don't respawn then something is screwed.

I'm pretty sure TB fab respawning was something that supposed to be fixed in 2.0 (or at least, was mentioned as a known issue).

In reunion was one in Tharka's Sun/Duke's vision and Interworlds iirc ... it was 3 races, at least, why in TC there are 2 fabs in the same race sector .. doesn't make sense.

If the fabs doesn't rebuilted, raise some Paranid reputation ans drop one factory yourself ... its a little expencive must be >10 millions but what can you do :roll:

Wasn't there a thread that pointed out that you may destroy a factory then capture the TL that goes to repair it? I would be interested if someone works this it as I am also an enemy of the paranid.

NUKLEAR-SLUG did, but the problem with that is that God probably won't rebuild Tractor Beam fabs :(

Unless, as Carlo suggests that v2.0 has changed this...
