Strange Flak Behavior

I noticed some odd behavior in the Flak batteries when flying one of my destroyers this evening. 2 M4s and an M3 were ripping me up and I can't seem to figure out what happened.

I run 4 flaks on the top and bottom turrets and normally as soon as a shot from a fighter lands the attacker is nearly instantly obliterated. However, tonight I had 3 ships on me for more than 5 minutes and the Flaks were not hitting them. I switched to external view to see what was going on and I noticed that the Flaks were exploding only at maximum range. I normally see the range vary as the explosions follow the fighter.

Has anyone else seen this? Is this a bug or do I need to change a turret setting?

Known bug where if you save while flak are operating they stop...

Either reload or swap some guns through the turrets to fix.
