tractor beams

I want to buy one (no, I do NOT want to know where to find one, I'm exploring already).

The thing is, I understand from reading some posts that 2.0 restored them. Do I have to now rush around to find one before they disappear again? Or can I take my time and happen across one at some point?

I do hope its the latter, I'm not a fast explorer, I don't want to have to go on a mad dash through the 'verse and ruin my exploring fun just to get one item.

There is nothing mentioned about restored tractor beam fabs in the changelog, so if they disappeared in your game they stay that way.

The Changelog does state the following in the list of Fixes however, which could included such things as 'Tractor Beam Fabs'.
Several stations, including Terran stations, now rebuilt after being destroyed.
