Aldrin Mission at Neptune

Sent to investigate Terran Unknown Sector 3.
Explored for hours. Found 4 Asteroids & one Solar Power Plant XL debris.
Couldn't trigger anything.

Okay, now i'm stuck with the towing mission...
I cannot fit the Mobile mining ship into jump gate ... :lol:

I just blew it up and the terran say its okay.

Now i have to transport something to (unknown)object.sector.name@L2M011.Neptune facility.

If you want to tow the ship successfully .. get the tractor beam locked on and then do CTRL+C then 1. Nav and tell your ship to fly through the gate. That makes your ship go through and the ship in tow follow you correctly in to the next sector. If you do it manually it doesn't work.

Don't worry about the screwy message, you got it. Just use your mission guidance (and details/info) to find out whats going on and where to go.

No mission guidance .. That's the problem ..
I docked at every station in Neptune but doesn't work ..

When you get the other side just wait a good distance away from the gate. Eventually the MMB will saunter through. If you are i the way,you will either lose it by collision or get blown up yourself when it collides with you.

I did this part more than once before I understood.

Just seen last post.

Looks like you have to return to the save position prior to towing the MMB, and do it properly. You do get a reward, if the beta version is he same.

The MMBS doesn't seem to turn ... Cannot go through the gate even with autopilot..

I tried many times to jump first and then waited for several minutes.. The MMBS still at Terran US3 ...

Chek the other threads on this subject. You do have to wait a looong time,as it is one of the biggest ships available and hence .....slow.

Now thats just weird .. dont recall that or the screwy message in my game. But to answer your question, once you tow the ship and get the 'special delivery object' just fly south towards the orbital patrol base in Neptune .. you will see a familiar looking but different object there. Get close and you should complete the mission. Believe this is the last mission for the Aldrin expansion missions for now (have fun with TUS3 hehehe).

I believe its USC Orbital Logistics Dock ... Nothing happen ..
Guess my plot if broken ..

Wait a minute, that's the last mission for Aldrin Plot?
There's still a lot of Kha'ak at Terran US2 ..

What i did is ...
1. Done towing the MMBS to Aldrin 2. The ship is mine now.
2. Jump to Asteroid Belt. Dock at Orbital Defense Station to accept next task.
3. Got a task to deliver glowing crystal to unknown/weird name station at Neptune. No guidance.
4. Fly to Neptune. Dock every single station. Nothing happen.

I wonder what I get once I finish this Aldrin plot.. If nothing then I better leave it ..

Fly to Neptune, turn left, so the planet is in view. Is there anything new there in the sector?

there's USC logictics dock, then atmospheric lifter, then blue planet ...
Im 150kms away from the logictics dock and couldn't see anything ...

I'm getting a bit oot but manually is 100% doable. I did it with one try (no loads-saves and the like) with the hyperion and nothing unexpected happened.

I have a feeling that the mission only works if you successfully tow the MMBS to Aldrin 2. It could be that the spawning of the gate construction site is on successful towing. This is not difficult...
  • 1. Fly to the MMBS in TUS #3 in a ship with a tractor beam
    2. Get a lock on the MMBS
    3. Instruct the autopiloc to fly to Aldrin 2 (first turn off auto jump if it is enabled though)
A known issue is that if you save while towing and then reload that save the MMBS will either disappear or get destroyed so you need to do the towing mission in a single continuous gaming session.

I saw that in my game.
I think this problem comes if you haven't enter Neptune before this mission start.

ps: is this thread a little chaotic or?! :D

Same here using a Dragon, and with SETA. I didn’t think the Dragon would maintain a lock using the tractor beam from a front laser position, but it worked fine, I was able to turn and then SETA towards the gate.

Either I successful or fail to tow the MMBS to Aldrin 2, the result is same.
Just different message by the Terran Officer. Still have to jump to Asteroid Belt and collect the glowing crystal.

Natha, that's what I thought of. Before accepting mission in Asteroid Belt. I send 2 Kestrel to scout everything in Neptune but still the same problem.

I spent whole day figuring out how to complete that task.. Now I'm pissed.. :evil: :lol:

Okay, my last try.

1. Re-load the game back to the towing mission at Terran US3.

2. Use tractor beam to tow the MMBS through the gate. After the gate, I have to stop and wait for the MMBS. Previously I straight away hit Boost button. The MMBS need to wait for the traffic to go empty first.

3. While I'm on my way to Aldrin 2. I purchase 4 Kestrel from PTNI HQ. Equip each with Explorer command + Duplex Scanner. Send to Neptune.

4. Fly to Aldrin 2 and the MMBS is mine. Message from Terran Officer.

5. Jump to Asteroid Belt to dock at Orbital Defense Station.
