Moving a silicon mine with the tractor beam (X3R)

Post by Belgarath » Mon, 11. May 09, 20:01

I searched but was unable to find anything about this.

I've got two tractor beams mounted in my Orca but when I try to move the station, it just rolls or spins (whatever you want to call it. I can't get it move other than that. Anyone have experience with this?

It a large station created from a 64-yield asteroid.

It would be nice if I could slave another ship (the M7M) and use them in tandem, but I don't think it's possible.

Thanks in advance.

It'll do until I can upgrade the graphics card.

Unfortunately there's not much you can do about this except try, try, and try again--eventually (and believe me, it'll be more by luck than judgement) you'll hit the sweet spot where the mine rotates in a friendly way (e.g. spins around the same axis as its direction of movement, so there's no chance it'll sideswipe the towing ship).

I didn't find the "sweet spot" but I did figure out that you can lock on and the reverse and push the station. Works like a charm. Only 10 m/s, but at least it's moving.
