This (illegal) software, means you can claim a capped ship without having to do a spacewalk. i.e from the safety of your ship.

Use the claim action as before.

I had to get rid of my SOS software after I kept getting scanned in friendly sectors and losing my police license. It was useful in claiming ships, but it didn't seem like a good trade-off.

I don't think you can buy the firewall software.

SSS is sold by Duke's HQ (also see the FAQ for an explanation of what it does).

SOS is explained by this FAQ article.
