Borons really need to invest in some combat lessons for their captains

I was spending my days in Atreus Cloud, deep in negotiations with passing split freighters to depart with their ships, when the music changed (always a bad sign), my alarms goes off and the gravidar turned all red.

The first thing that came to mind, was that the Split came looking for revenge for all those freighters they had to give up to me, but after checking sector map, I realized that things were even worse.

The Khaak.

1 KM1, 1 KM2 and they brought friends. At least 8 clusters , which broke almost instantly.

A quick jump to the farthest gate, and upon reentering sector I checked to see whats what. The KM1 and the KM2 were busy vaporising every ship within reach, and they were heading to Plankton Farm Beta, which u can guess didnt last very long. The remaining clusters decided to pay a visit to the Trading Station.

Now Atreus Cloud is home to a Military Outpost, a medium OWP, and (in my game) a Thresher and a Kraken, complete with escorts, so Im thinking its going to be a nice little furball, which can only benefit me, from all the loot im going to pick up when the dust settles.

Things started well for the Boron. The clusters, being near the OWP, decided to attack it instead of the Trading Station, which turn out to be very bad for them, because they were down in no time, with some assistance from sector police.

That didnt last very long. When the KM1/M2 finished with the Plankton Farm, they decided to pay a visit to Bofu chemical lab Alpha, and stop by the OWP since it was in they way either. KM1 arrived first and to my surprise it got shredded in no time. Im impressed. Whoever design those OWP knows hes stuff. Unfortunately, with its shields low it didnt last very long when KM2 arrived.

The destruction of the OWP apparently woke up the Thresher and Kraken, whom untill this point were quite content to sit and watch the fireworks. Im guessing them being fish dont get to see fireworks very often.

A KM2 with shields down to 80% vs. Thresher with PPC and Kraken with Hammers, not counting the M8 and PBG equipped escort attached to each battlegroup. My money is for the Boron here.

Good thing I wasnt betting anything or I'll be deeply disappointed.

The Thresher fired a single round of dont-know-what-but-sure-as-hell-it-wasnt-PPC, and then turn and make hes escape to the north gate. Suficcient is to say he didnt make it. Its brave escort, though pounding severely the KM2 with PBG fire, didnt las very long to those Kyon emitters. The M8 didnt fired a single Tomahawk.

Now is the turn of the Kraken, and Im waiting here to see a full missile barrage, followed by another one from the M8, only to get to watch as the kraken close distance to the KM2 not firing even a miserable flail, and plumetting head on into it, going down in flames not even scraching the hull of the target. Its escort followed the same path laid out by their friends and got quickly shredded to pieces.

Now what sort of fish the Boron are hiring this days to command their capital ships, I dont know but they better invest in some combat lessons for them pronto or they'll end up losing ships faster than u can say ouch!

Well it was fun to watch and I have a lot of loot to pick up, so lets st.... now why is the KM2 turning in my direction? There are no statiosn where im sitting, so why come this way?. Better to be someplace else. Engage thrusters and make my way towards the Military Outpost, and yes, the monstruosity is adjusting course and coming directly towards me. What did I do to offend this guy?

Lets hide behind the Military Outpost and see what happens. And what happened was that as soon the KM2 was in weapons range of the outpost it started Kyoning the hell out of it with complete impunity. That must have triggered some alarm in Central Command (or being underwater probably some big bubbles) because they send reinforcements. Another Kraken.

Are they joking? Dont they know what happened to the last one? 1 miserable Kraken, probably undershielded and with no missiles to speak of vs a Destroyer. No chance whatsoever. In fact this one didnt get too close to the KM2 and went down in flames, although im pretty sure he was fully intended to emulate hes brother and kamikaze the KM2, but he didnt got the chance.

To make what it already is a long story short, I took the KM2 to a loooooooong trip around the sector, especially through travel lanes, and let it have fun shooting everything in sight while playing catch up with me. In the meantime I recalled a couple of my TS and send them to recover all the loot that was trailing behind.

All in all, good fun!

Update: A couple of hours passed and I was doing business elsewhere when decided to visit Atreus Pirate Base, and found that the OWP was rebuilt, but the KM2 is still there breaking havoc

The Borons must really consider this sector startegically unimportant. A pirate Base and a KM2 and they dont do nothing to stop them?
