There re 3 factories at the beginning of each game. One is in LooMan's Legacy (but it gets blown up in many games) and 2 are in Weaver's Tempest. So if you have bad pirate/yaki rep your only option is to capture ships and hope that they carry some.

If you continually destroy the Akumas and Ryus that spawn in Yaki space, they will drop them eventually.

IBL forges

Post by Bill Huntington » Sat, 13. Jun 09, 09:30

Well, Hitman XXX, you are looking at two projects. It is the same for each. You have to get access to each base. Basicly, you improve your rank with the pirate/Yaki faction that owns them. Find a pirate base close by, and do missions for it. Eventually they will offer to hack the pirate base you need, or offer you a taxi ride to that base. (Take the ride.) Sometimes the offer to hack comes from another base in the sector that shows the white lightbulb, and starts with the pirate face (eyepatch), even though it is not on the pirate station. I earned about $10 Mil in each case before the offer came.

For Looman's, the pirate base can be in the NW sector of Acquistion Repository. (Follow the ship traffic.) Or sometimes in New Income, SE sector, right in the traffic of ships between gates.

The Yaki IBL forges are in Weaver's Tempest. But the pirate base is usually in the NW sector of Savage Spur. Once you get access there in Weaver's, you probably have to build up the sector to supply the resources for the IBL forges.

Good Luck.
Bill in S.F., enjoying the game

I have quite a few IBL's aquired through boarding operations. (I stored them and not sure what to do with them lol). When I capture the Yaki Shuri (M1) about 60% of the time they will have them, sometimes 12 at a time :) The Shuri only seems to roam Weavers Tempest. Oh and they are the easiest ships to board :P

Went to Looman, got a few hacks from ppl on that pirat base and got the IBL. only 2 in there and i had to buy gear so they build more. Alot easyer to hack it. Was thinking of boarding yaki ships to keep. So I might get a few. Whats the best way to kill there escorts without being blown up or wasting fail missiles?

What makes that ship the easiest to take over? thin hull? no marines or sentrys? what?! i would like to know so i can go after it training my marines to engie 4 stars right now so they don't blow up half the hull on there way though the ships =P

You'll aquire IBL much faster by boarding and blowing up Akumas and Ryus than waiting for the factories to produce.

The Shuri isn't particularly heavily armed, so you can board it with pods from way downtown. I board with my M6, so I find it difficult to deal with all it's fighter cover and prefer to board the Akuma.

Usually one of capital ships I board has them on board after I capture it. It's usually 32 pieces which is more than I need in my games...
Where is it?

There is another way to get IBL, if you dont mind the modified tag there is a shipyard you can script in that sells IBL forges.

I lost count of how many ships i boarded or destroyed looking for IBL and only got a few for my trouble, and trust me i used every trick i learned from reading the various posts on IBL and how to aquire them.

The capped ships' hull damage depends on the engineering skills of your marines (or is it mechanical?). When I cap them the hull ends up around 89 to 91%. I have my missile firing sequence down to a fine art so I don't damage the hull at all and remains 100% for boarding.

I personally find it the easiest ship to cap.
They are just generally easy to board. They are slow so you can get them to chase while you keep at a distance, heavily shielded for slow shield regeneration, also the turrents can't seem to fire foward whether its a blind spot/weak spot or pure laziness? On the ship you can see the turrets trying to aim at the missiles but can't quite reach so your missiles and boarding pod should arrive safely but only if it is chasing you dead ahead.

I have boarded around 10 Shuri's so far and not lost one marine. These ships had turned 8 of my marines into 5* fighting skills.

Its the engie skill that keeps the hull the most in-tact mech. skill is for cutting though hulls and the hack skill is obvious =P.

Capped my first mammoth TL today, from light of heart. Had 54% hull left most of my marines had 1 star or no stars in engie so almost all of them are at 3 stars now. Went to legend home and "rented" another mammoth hoping to cap it later. So i can have enough cash to buy a M7M so i can use boarding pods and cap me a M1 =)

It never dropped for me but I was able to capture Ryus and Akumas with a full load of IBLs (26 for Akuma and 8 for Ryu) several times.

I have a Cobra loaded with 300 flails and 130 Hammer Heavy Torps. I have worked out that around 3 flails fired in rapid succession will destroy an M3. 3 Hammer Heavy's (fired in rapid succession) will destroy an M6. You can fire them at a good distance so the ships are all destroyed by the time they even get close to you.

You can cap about 3 capitals with the amount of missiles loaded on my Cobra and still end up plenty to spare.

You are better off building Missile fabs, there be no where near enough in the universe to buy them when you are using them up all the time.

Boarding using a M7M of Yaki M1, M2 Ships (and sometimes Pirates).

Just save the game once you Marines are through the Hull then save the game.

Once the ship is yours check out the freight of the captured ship.. if you not happy then Load and try again. Got 26 IBL's last time.. but it took me about 12 reloads (was a Yaki Akumua)

I always seem to loss 1 marine in any boarding I do. And i only send in 5, 1 pod to cap my yaki M2's. Going to cap the M1 today see that diff, but i had to train up my egin on my good fighter to make sure I get a high % on the hull. More money when u get a 90% hull and sell it. I once got 15 HEPT in a Yaki M2.

How whats are needed the cap a terran Battleship? Heard they are hard to come by. 5 stars on all 4 area if that poss?

My combat rank is Warlord and most capital ships I drop, drop 3-4 IBLs

I don't even need to destroy them myself, just take a Very Hard Xenon Patrol in the same sector and wait for your target to explode from 3 Ks worth of PPC fire.

I've got 30 this way, which is all I expect I'll need.

Yeah, it's pure luck but you can help the luck if you keep reloading. Personally I don't bother though, I know I will find 32 eventually and that's usually more than you need.
Where is it?

Why reload just go to your mismisle complex reload missile go back and they should be back there again. If not go after the M1. Plus I must be very unlucky have yet to get a IBL from any Yaki.
