The Dukes, Quick money and IBL's!

Post by Arendee » Mon, 15. Jun 09, 22:57

I'd just like to share some of my own experiences in how the Dukes gave me free stuff. My Headquarters is built in heaven's assertion just outside their home sector, so I just go in and loot and get quick cash.

If you have 5 marines that are 3 stars in everything (and fighting), you can board nemeses without any problems, and get a nearly perfect survival rate. I boarded probably 5 different nem's with the same 5 marines until they were all 5 stars in fighting. Once you have the ships, you can do whatever you like, they're worth about 7 million bucks if fully repaired. Many of them carry jumpdrives, transporter devices, and 200mj shields. I usually put a paperweight on the fire key while in my space suit then go make a sandwich and watch TV or something while my space suit repairs the ship, which I later sell for full price.

They spawn continuously, from what I've seen. They usually have a zeus with a bunch of nemesis escorts. I picked up 10 incendiary bomb launchers after killing several of them.

They also drop plenty of other things: ion shard railguns, ion pulse generators, hammer heavy missiles, firestorm torpedos, etc.

Even if you don't have an HQ, you can capitalize on this sector. I'm on day 12 or so, but I made 20 5-star-fighting marines in a couple of hours playing (otherwise they took a million years to train the other stats). Once you've killed them all, exit the sector, push SETA for half a minute, go back in and everything should be spawned all over again.

If you don't find all the IBL's you need from this sector, you could also try the unknown east of Gaian Storm.

Just thought I'd share.

I wonder though, what are the benefits of doing Duke missions?

I pretty much only interact with them in the way you've described.
Gets you pirate rep as well.

You get the only m3 that can fire Typhoon missiles. And a fuzzy, warm feeling that you did it right when you killed the 10th Paranid Odysseus and your rep really can't go lower.

The mission is accomplished when you succesfully board the ship. And it's not you who make the killing, it's your marines.
