Satellites and Scanners

This may have been asked already. So I apologise in advance if it has.
When you lay a satellite network, you can see ships in sectors that are out of range of your ship scanners. Do NPC ships get this information? Or is your satellite network your own exclusive preserve?

It's your own.

Advanced Satellites

Post by Bill Huntington » Tue, 16. Jun 09, 23:57

Good Question. Having a Advanced Sat in every sector saves a lot of problems later. Early in the game when money is short, I just put one in each sector I visit, if I can. I place the first one to just cover one exit and then towards the center. I usually pick the exit with the most traffic, sometimes guessing. Even one exit prevents surprises, or allows deductions about where an assassination victim might be. When money is available, I'll put up Sats to cover all exits on further visits.

Adv Sats show all economic info, even if it is not in the direct view of the Sat. However, it only shows the ships that are in range.

I find that 21 - 22km height is the best altitude for normal sectors.
