How do I deploy an Advanced Satellite?

Post by kuplo » Tue, 4. Aug 09, 04:57

Okay I finally managed to stuble on the satellite factory when it had some advanced satellites in stock and bought one.

I'd like to deploy it in either The Wall or in Home of Light. As I understand it, the satellite is in my cargo hold.

How do I go about deploying it into one of those sectors? Is the location that I deploy it better in one position than another? What I mean is should I try to deploy it near the main buildings that I do business with, or deploy it toards the center of the sector or does it not matter.

Thanks,

First eject it out of the cargo bay. Where you place/dump the sat is up to you, the player.

Personally I dump the sats 20-25km above the ecliptic (depends on where the gate/gates are on the "y" axis) that way traffic doesn't run them over and get overlook the majority of the time by hostile forces.

in-flight

- hit f for freight
- click on Advanced Satellite in the cargo listing
- scroll to bottom of drop-down box and select the last line

- the other option will drop the lot in one go..
- the last option drops them one at a time..

- drop the satellite by clearing the box..

- you can do this remotely as well.. 8)

Means that you can open the freight menu of a satellite hauling Discoverer that has moved to desired position in Heretic's End, while you yourself are shooting a criminal in Kingdom End.

And later, as your universe develops, you can set up automatic satellite deployers that will drop satellites in each of your discovered sectors, refilling its supply as needed, or until they are destroyed by a hostile race. I prefer this method, as it creates redundancy in sectors (be warned that pirates and yaki and xenon love to destroy your deployed satellites) so that I hopefully have at least one satellite in each of my sectors. Also, I prefer using TM-class ships. But there should be threads on this elsewhere. . .

Get your self the explorer software and use the deploy sat command. Then sit back as a fast ship sets up a whole load for you in different sectors.
