Has the pilot of the ship you're trying to claim actually bailed out? System Override Software doesn't remove the requirement to make the enemy pilot bail before you can claim the ship, it just removes the requirement to eject into your space suit to get the claim option.

I hope it gets a few changes in the future. 600k, illegal, and let's face it : completly useless.

In vanilla, nobody will claim ships except us, so there's no need to claim quickly in the heat of battle.

I've read somewhere on this board that you can use it to take control of the remaining docked fighters from a captured carrier, but never manage to make it works in 2.1

I find that not having to eject is pretty useful already, particularly if you're flying a capital ship - well worth the 600K (pocket change once you get going, anyway).

Yeah 600k is nothing - granted, and it can be usefull for a capship (I tend to stay away from those and let the AI plays with itself ;)) but still it makes of the SOS the most expensive piece of software of the universe.

And it's illegal at that, and one can wonder why :p

I'm just saying, either lower its cost, makes it legal and leave it be, or give it a few reasons that explain the price and the illegal part.

I dunno, slightly better cap chance, bonus to hacking when boarding, remote hack of stations for a short period of time, well, something :D

Does the ...

Worth it when money is not a big issue I would have thought.

Yes it works. I have it in several playerships and never had problems with police regarding illegal software.

I found it very handy to claim ships when going on a capture spree through Pirate Alley in X3R.
