I remember back with X3:R there was a script that would pay a bounty + a small notoriety bonus if you returned an ejected pirate to a commonwealth station (I can't seem to find it now unfortunately, the closest I got was a similar feature in the bounty hunters guild: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=96778 ).

My question is if there is any option for a lawful player to deal with passengers? I know you can enslave them at pirate stations, but that's not terribly lawful...I searched through the TC library but only found the convert passenger to marine script ( http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=256012 ) which also doesn't really jive with my straight man attitude for my current game.

Any suggestions?

You possibly refer to Cartel Capture Passengers that was in the X3R Bonuspack (no bounty). Cannot recall, nor quickly find, anything humanitarian for X3TC. :(

I think I found the original X3:R script after digging through some of my old backups. I'm pretty sure it was a component of PiloteAI [sic] ( http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php? ... t=piloteai ). Anyway, it doesn't appear to have been ported and nothing really seems to mirror that particular functionality of it either :(

I agree this would be a really cool feature.

Maybe an MD script to create "Refugee Centre" stations. When one of your ships carrying passengers docks there a representative comms you asking if you want to offload the passengers for a rep boost with the passenger's race. That would be awesome. Almost makes me want to learn MD to implement this, almost.

I'd rather get a few credits each.

I was actually considering doing a script that simply converts them into passengers ware, which could then be sold for 4 credits each somewhere. My mods already have the selling bit, I just need to convert them. Or maybe slaves is another idea.

I've got to the point where all my ships carry their full compliment of marines, so the people I keep picking up are just cluttering up space at the moment.

I would like to add to this..

I was thinking it would be nice to have a small simple looking type of space dock
just for dealing with passengers floaters without having to either sell them all as slaves, or
letting them float on by.

MIA Space Shelters

there should be one in every sector similar to trading stations

features:

1) Space Shelters can hold up to but no more then 100 passengers

2) passengers ejected into space auto float to the shelters and no where else!

3) the player can pick them up & drop them off for 2000 credit rewards each + a small boost up in recognition
with the race of that floater for taking the time to pick them up.

4) when passengers land into the cargo hold on the space shelter station they each individually send out for one
of 3 player missions..

mission 1] buy & bring a ship to them

mission 2] drop them off at their nearest race ship dock so they can rejoin their efforts/cause.

mission 3] if your notoriety is high enough with the floaters race an option mission becomes available to hire some of them as mercs.

fighter pilots,
capital marines,
capital mechanics

your own "empty ships" that must be docked to the shelter station with trading system extension and a ship that the player is not in.

if hired as a fighter pilot, your empty m3 or m4 now has his name
attached to the ship & he then auto messages you that he is now
escorting you in his new ship until new orders are given.

it would be nice also to have the ability to coms with merc pilots
adding a feeling that the player is not so alone in the universe.

5) after any race passengers reach 5 or more of the same race in any
sectors shelter the owners race sends off a passenger freighter to pick
them up automatically then jumps/dumps them off at their races closest
shipyard.

6) you can sell race food to the station as a secondary resource to feed the stranded pilots.

you get the drift.

make this mod spk happen please!

Hey! Here's something I can actually help with! :D So, you're looking to peaceably deal with passengers, rather than simply converting them into slaves? You might want to check the following:

http://www.xuniversum.info -- this is the website of famed X-scripter Lucike--he has made several scripts that involve transports. To name a few: Passenger Transport Service, Military Transport Service, Search and Rescue. His site is in German, as he is a native Deutschlander, but Google Translate does a pretty good job at converting German to English

http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=220348 -- Salvage Claim Software (SCS): This software is by default for claiming ships, yes, but a neat little feature I recently discovered is that if you "claim" an astronaut floating in space, he or she will fly to the nearest space station, and you'll get a rep boost and some pocket change from the race that the rescued pilot is from.

http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=322403 -- Release Passengers: This one is much like SCS linked above, only now you can store passengers in any CLS-equipped ship while you fly them to the nearest station for a small rep boost. (Very small, on the order of 5-20 points each time).

And one other I recommend: NPC Bailing Addon--as this causes NPC pilots to bail more frequently, even in AI-vs-AI battles. Once, I came across a TP full of passengers. Search and Rescue! :D

I will check all those scripts out..

perhaps their is a way that I can perhaps combine/edit some of the scripts into one mod and simply make a small orbital weapons platform as a new "shelter station type" to apply the scripts to it in some way..

in TC most passengers will have a set destination they want to go, if you drop them off there, you will get paid for returning them.

select the passenger and press i to view the destination and price.
