Aldrin Mission: Tow Mobile mining base ship

Now I am doing the Aldrin missions, when I received the message about a Xenon attack at Terran Unknown Sector 3 and about rescuing a ship, I ordered there a bunch of M2 and M7 ships to aid me -judging from the struggle with the previous mission when I was escorting the Boron ship- , jumped in the sector, and found just some lousy pack of 3-4 fighters and a P.

Well, the problem actually is that they told me to tow the ship to an other sector, but HOW am I supposed to do that? If I try tossing it around with my ship, it gets damaged, and there is no place in the universe (that I know of) where I can get a tractor beam.

So how did you finish this mission?

Buy a tractor beam :) look in your encyclopedia for where tractor beams are sold and go look, I found 8 tractors beams at a tractor beam fab (the only one in my game) at Third Redemption.

Yeah, I would have checked it in my encyclopedia, but for I haven't encountered any of those, it is not registered a in my enc., for it lists only those I actually met in some way

Let me propose an easier way: Capture the TL, transfer e-cells and jumpdrive and let him jump to aldrin. After that ask him to fly to Aldrin 2. He will not be punished by Xenon and nothing can happen to him while flying OOS through Aldrin (other ships crash into him, ...)!
In the meantime he is flying to Aldrin 2 you can do much more other things (trade, fight, missions), which give's you more money, more ships, more power!

Yeah I guess that's what I'm gonna do, because I just bought the tractor beam, but it's a worthless /%*$"#!!!

It doesn't do a damn thing at all!

I towed the ship all the way back to Aldrin 2. Is the ship supposed to get destroyed when you get it there?

I tried several times, taking care not to hit gates and other ships, but each time it came through the gate into Aldrin 2 it blew up, and then the mission continued, to go to Asteroid Belt.

Sorry about I sent the reply several times... I had some technical problem as it seems...

Anyway, I captured the ship, had it to jump to Aldrin, and sent it to Aldrin 2. It got there safely, and in the end I got the ship as a gift, for they didn't need it that much afterall

I did not really understand this part of the mission and gift. I already had an MMB.Now I have two.

Note to self. Must get the free one down to my PHQ for REing.Well that's the only benefit I gained. They could have just given me the blueprints.Dow I have to wait for my engineering scientists to make some.

IIRC, there is a fleet of M7 block the gate to TUS1. I try to board that ship then jump it directly to Aldrin 2 and after i enter the sector the MMBS is blow up.
So, i jump it to Aldrin then ordered it to fly to Aldrin 2. Mission complete and got the MMBS.
