Disruptor missiles
Long time X3:R fan, but a newbie at X3:TC. Doing some missions for OTAS and they want disruptor missiles. Am I right in thinking the only way I can get them is to hunt Yaki ships? If so I reckon I'm going to need something a bit bigger than my Nova Raider as those Yaki flame throwers are getting to be annoying.

Disruptor missiles can only be found as drops.
Is this your first mission? If not, then abandon it and wait until a new one is available. As long as you keep your reputation above zero, they won't mind. I always abandon disruptor missile missions. They aren't worth the hassle.
From what I hear, you HAVE to do the transport missions, or you'll break the corporation quests.

IIRC, if you reload a gamesave made before you read the Corporation mission description, you may still get a fetch missiles mission next but it may be for different missile types and quantities. Once you have read the mission description and even before you accept it, you are stuck with it in all its details until you succeed, fail, abort or reload.
If you abort the mission you will take a rep hit and hopefully the next mission will be somewhat different. The Corporations can be a bit edgy so I wouldn't advise aborting too often just in case.

Not always, the breaks I've managed so far was where a person had to be transported to an HQ. But I've encountered one break transporting a person from the HQ. But I'm still running tests on this to see if the breaking during a transport mission is random or if there's a telltale sign (i.e. TP required).Bobucles wrote:From what I hear, you HAVE to do the transport missions, or you'll break the corporation quests.
None of the first missions require a missile delivery, unless this was changed in 2.5.
Why didn't I think of that. I've spent HOURS and MILLIONS driving my Argon M7M around the Yaki Sectors Caping their M2 & M1s and blowing up their Ships (Although I do it regular in retaliation to them hitting my shipping lanes anyway, There's a full on war happening between my empire and Yaki). If I was to Mine their Gates would it prevent Yaki ships from flying up into argon sectors? Or do they spawn up there?
These missions seam to come regular and have always put my OTAS missions on hold. Does anybody know approx how much rep is lost and approx how much is gained per successful mission/Aborted Mission?

If a message for future work has been received prior to a save, the mission remains the same though I've had the missile number change before.crgray wrote:Tried going back to the previous save and it still offered the same. Been scouring the universe for Disruptors since and managed to find 2 of the 15 I need.
When you say abort do you mean take the mission then abort it rather than tell them I'm not interested?
Correct, just abort and hope the next mission isn't another delivery. I've never had two delivery missions in a row but on other mission types I have (i.e. transport & assassination).
The % of rep loss depends on your current rank with the Corp. question. The gain percentage also depends on rank. But if you rank is above Rank 1, a successful mission will give anywhere from 13% to 25% and it's random.cheezy379 wrote:Does anybody know approx how much rep is lost and approx how much is gained per successful mission/Aborted Mission?
The top link in my sig gives further information (rank decrease is still being worked on).
Just tried aborting it and it dropped my reputation from OTAS Combat Supprt 54% to 51%. Went back to the autosave and tried it again to see if it's constant and end up at 53% the second time, so pretty happy about that.
ETA: They then came up with an assination mission that put me up to 70%
Thanks for the info folks

Ah that's not bad then.
Another question in regards to disruptor missiles:
If I were to mine the shit out of a system (I have a TL with over 1000 Tracker mines and 1000 SQUASH mines just sitting about somewhere...), jump out, press J and go for food. When I returned, could I jump into the system and find loads of drops from dead ships (Including the damn missiles)?

Dont skip too many missions. They only have a set # of missions, so you could end up with little or no ship pay out.
Look for Pirate transports with BlastClaw as escorts. Blow up alll M3 class as quickly as possible to avoid drops gettig destroyed Via BGS.
I usually just hit the com, see the requirements and hit escape till I have what I need.

I am friends with the Yaki and the pirates so I just scavenge disruptors. In my game there is a Deimos patrol in Savage Spur which seems to cause an endless spawning of Yaki M3/4/5's. When they get dusted I pick up the Beluga/Disruptor/Hammerhead/Typhoon/Cyclone missiles. So when I have admin tasks to take care of I hop in to SavSpur and wait. When I'm ready to leave I send my Xperimental shuttle to pick up the goodies which usually includes 5-10 disruptors every half hour or so. In my game this is at least the third Deimos. The first was stolen , and the second was ambushed by an asteroid... Then a brand new patrol with escorts and all migrates back in.
I've been considering jumping stolen M7's into Weaver's Tempest to let the Yaki fight it out with the police. With that much hardware flying around there's bound to be some goodies left over. Anyone know if that will work?
