My very own PBG forge
So I was cruising across Danna's Chance looking for suitable ships to steal... when a Teladi Supply albatross spawns (no jump flash) right in front of me so close that I had to take serious evasive action. As I'd read NS's stories I wasn't that surprised by it's contents.
And since I keep my gannet full of marines in the middle of that sector... I was having that PBG forge. Boarding went fine... clean pod contact... no losses.... it even had advanced firewall software still installed when it was handed over. All Good.... or maybe just weird...
So I go to my new TL's command console and I notice it already has a command... "move to place station"... or something like that... anyways I didn't want it to do that so I told it to fly to freedoms reach and left it to it... but instead it went and placed an NPC(!) PBG forge next to the existing one. After a couple of reloads I realise that the only thing I can do to stop it from placing an NPC forge is to drop it myself... then it was mine! not where I wanted... but mine
Strangest thing about the whole thing.... The NPC one that it originally placed was the pirate version and required Spacefuel... but when I placed it... it is Teladi and requires nostrop oil! Guess you can't acquire the pirate one in vanilla (unless someone knows otherwise)
Anyways... I'm off to toast some paranid with my new toys. Happy hunting

That would have been impossible... the TL would accept any command I gave it but it would not actually follow the command until it had moved and placed the NPC forge. I'm guessing it's worth a lot then?Robert Powell wrote:Did you try docking at a shipyard and collecting the credits

I think it's between 1/2 and 3/4 of the stations worth (someone will give the exact worth no doubt). I'm not much of a capper and this is something i've not seen before.
But I am greedy and just wondering if there's extra credits out there

What do you get if you listen to suggestions by players of Rebirth? Walking around stations in a space sim!
I've got a lot of PBG forges, but never a IBL forge. PBG forges are very awkward to build where you want - make sure you don't let the Albatross carry on on it's way, otherwise it will build the forge for it's actual owners. It's better if you can get the Albatross in Hatikvahs or Nopileos so you can move the hub gates and unload the station at the hub (you have to pilot the Albatross yourself using the strafe drive.) Most PBG forge carrying Albatrosses I've caught have come from Ceo's Sprite, they don't just spawn (at least in my experience.)jimlpearce wrote:Thanks... It was entirely luck that I was exactly where it spawned.
Has anyone ever claimed they have got an IBL forge? If so any ideas where? Quite happy to set up operations nearby if so
I've never played a game long enough to know whether any IBL forges will be rebuilt. I've tried many things to try to get the GOD engine to build another with no luck.

Well it wasn't there... and then it was! Under 4km in front of me and looking like a big metal wall! So if it didn't spawn then it was using a camouflage device and cargo bay shielding to stop me from seeing it when I scanned it.
I like the hub idea... although how I'm going to even make a start on the hub when my game rules in my piracy game only allow trading with Yaki and pirates and very limited personal stations.. I'm not entirely sure.
The quest for an IBL forge is on though.. you know I have not played a single game of TC on 2.5 where any of the IBL forges were destroyed by anyone but me.

I have never tried swapping stations between TL's. I had thought of this but didn't have time to get my other TL to it before the station was dropped. I will try if I ever come across another.Lightning4 wrote:Idea:
Can you freight transfer a station between ships? If so, then you can simply transfer it to another TL you have waiting in the sector. Then you can toss it wherever you want, in theory.

Unfortunately you cannot transfer stations (as far as I know).
So... my questions are... is the Albatross locked in some sort of "Must place station" command even if your piloting it? I mean can u drive it to where you want the station and then dump the thing? Or does it refuse to do what you tell it to? Did you try putting in a jump drive & e-cells and jumping it yourself (as the pilot)?
More questions are sure to follow... as a fellow pirate, I am very interested in this venture... Good Hunting

Doesn't work. I believe you can do it if you're docked at the Hub (or is it PHQ?)
All other methods I could think of ended up crashing or hanging the game. You can pilot the TL manually if you have a boost extension (keep it pressed down to keep at full speed) and use strafe - just don't be surprised if the TL tries to go backwards. I also found it's better to go around the back of jumpgates if you are piloting the TL manually too.

The albatross was locked in some sort of "must p*ss me off" command.... I didn't realise it was doing it until It was most of the way there and I had just saved so I didn't have time to get to the TL in a kestrel before it dropped the station but it would not follow any remote commands except drop station... although betty did say "command accepted" for every command I tried.BigMistake wrote:Unfortunately you cannot transfer stations (as far as I know).

Any TL that has a build station command that you board acts loopy. If you build the station straight away, the TL will still fly to the position where the station should have been built, then you get control. I boarded a TL in Eighteen Billion - guess where that went
I think N-S got his to Freedom's Reach by piloting the TL himself (it's a long time since I read Zen.)
If you have a save before the forge is built, just command the TL to build the station in Danna's Chance - at least the forge is yours then. Build it away from the traffic lanes and it should be safe enough... maybe.

I obviously wasn't clear... i had already placed the forge as my own when I made this thread... I just created the thread to ask about this behaviour and let people know where I found it.
Thanks for the info though
