Asteroid "yield"...

Post by necxelos » Thu, 25. Feb 10, 23:58

Can someone tell me how asteroid "resource" yield affects mines and/or mine ships exploating that asteroid?

I'll appreciate numbers :)

If a mine is on the asteroid: the higher the yield, the faster production time is (at the cost of e-cells).

If mobile mining: the higher the yield, the faster the cargo bay fills due to the purity of the debris.

In general: The higher the yield, the more Ore or Silicon you get to mine in one hour production. Somewhat like the Sun-Intensity for SSPs.

E.g:
ore roid with a L-sized Mine

Yield / Ore/h

10 / 327
20 / 620
30 / 900
40 / 1200
50 / 1500
100 / 3000

I'll just chime in on this to make one point perfectly clear: Increased yield only means faster cycle times. End result:

1) Higher yield DOES NOT mean you get more ore out per e-cell
2) Higher yield DOES mean you get more ore out per hour at the cost of more e-cells.

The end result is that you get exactly the same result from two extremely low-yield asteroids as from one high-yield asteroids, you don't ever get more ore out when measured in per e-cell terms.
