The Best Way to Beat The Squash Mines in Brennans Triumph X2
Most of you probably know this but in X2 during the mission where you must scan the broken jumpgate in Brennans Triumph there are a lot of squash mines which will blow your ship to peices!
There are also a few pirates who just might decide to come frag you, your buddy Brett says use a mosquito missile, but at that point yer pretty broke so here is a away to clear the minefield and kill those pesky pirates too!
When you enter the sector it is most likely that after the cutscene you'll have a couple pirates comin for ya, you'll notice them in the sector map making a beeline for you. Just fly towards the minefield and when you are in range target the nearest mine and begin to fly either to the left or right of it depending on where you are. The pirates should chase you but they won't see the mines until its too late. Just remember that while you circle the mine field you have to keep an eye on the nearest mine, this requires deft sector map targeting. This way you won't get too close and blow up too. Often the pirates that chase you will clear away most of the mines leaving you with only a couple to dispose of. The other pirates won't come after you until you get back to the middle of the sector so don't worry about incoming missiles while you're in your spacesuit.
The explosion looks pretty cool too! If ya like old school graphics that is.

Yep, it's a technique as old as X2 itself. But it doesn't hurt to mention it to all the new players.ashkrowe wrote:Most of you probably know this ...
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.
X4 is a journey, not a destination. Have fun on your travels.

I got some pirates to chase me through the field once, and I beleive Kha'ak the next.
The very first time I left without doing anything other than annoying a pirate, returned days later with what I beleived I needed to kill the mines (drones?) and found they were all gone already.

I used to get stuck on that mission whenever I'd start up an X2 game, usually I'd remember to buy a shwack of mosquito's for it... and waste em all on the mines lol
I was peacefully detonating squash mines, and a pirate bayamon starts haulin at me... uhh... what do you do with a disco right? then; Wait a sec, you bugger! You want to chase me, lets see ya chase me around this!
yeah, fire works... gives me an idea about that split sector that supposedly has a minefield in it...

Oh my GOD!!!
Ashkrowe good sir, you just brought back bad memories.
When I played I tried flying through trying not to hit them (like Freelancer zone 21 mines), SO much...tried sending suicide ships into them, I think I tried missiles but I ended up raging and giving up x2. Probably didn't help I was in grade 6 and couldn't get into a deep and riveting game..
