How to respond to paranid invasion into argo space

Post by garv222 » Thu, 8. Apr 10, 09:18

I'm currently finishing up the teladianium part of the PHQ plot, so while I'm waiting I started doing some terra corp and plutarch missions. I notice during a mission a Deimos and a Zeus are beating the hell out of an Argon sector. Now, I've got the power to totally demolish their pesky 2 ships with my Cobra, but if I destroy one of their capital ships, it SERIOUSLY pisses off the paranid. I went from almost maxed relations to hostile just downing the Zeus. Is my only choice to let them rampage through argon space? I know I need them to finish some Plots, so I'm not thrilled at going to war with the paranid.

Fire a huge barrage, bail out fo the ship and jump it out before the missiles hit.

'This is Holy Command! Barrage of Torpedos just killed Zeus, pride of fleet'
'Who fired?
'No idea mate!'

Hmm.... I'll try that out! Might have to get some extra missiles ... Probably need to fire from 20+km away... I'll see how it goes tomorrow.

:gruebel: Won't the launched missiles simply disappear if you get out of sector?
EDIT: Oh I get it, jump out your ship only. Thanks :)

Just fire the missles and jump your ship to any gate in that sector .. quick, easier, no rep loss, same results.

Why not just board the ships with your Cobra, you lose less rep capturing ships than you do destroying them. Plus you get a couple of new ships too. :)

You can nuke them using the fire & jump technique, but why bother? I would suggest either leaving them to it or boarding them if you fancy a couple more capital ships.

These invasions happen quite frequently and rarely cause any real problems. You can always just hang around and see if any cap ships get nuked by the NPCs and collect any spoils :)

I notice during a mission a Deimos and a Zeus are beating the hell out of an Argon sector.

I watched those 2 ships + some friends destroy Plutarch once ...

They entered Ore Belt, picked on a couple of Argon ships, Plutarch launched 4 or 5 Heavy Centaurs which fought bravely for all of about 30 seconds, then the next thing I know Plutarch goes up in a light ball the size of a planet.

I was only there to get some energy cells .... but got a show instead

And of course, loosing a Company HQ breaks the plot line for it. (Or did they fix that?)

AFAIK the breaking still occurs in 2.5. 2.6 may or may not change this, we'll see upon release since information on what the new changes and additions will be are still restricted to the L3 forums.

Only if you've already started their missions. Otherwise, you should still get the option to start them once the station respawns. Or so I've heard.

Hopefully, that's one of those 'other minor bug fixes' that we get in each new patch and will be included in 2.6.
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

X4 is a journey, not a destination. Have fun on your travels.

Boarding will be difficult since there's about 40 fighter's escorting the zeus. Also my cobra only has 13 marines in it. The rest are in training. If I can't get the missile thing working tonight, I'm going to resort my 250k missiles(AKA station throwing). Haven't done it before, but I've heard it's a barrel of fun to try.

Edit: Just tried the missile and jump trick. Worked great! I just took out the zeus,, I'll leave the deimos alone. I'm not there to babysit the argon after all.
