Shadow Missiles are awesome!
I'm doing an ambush in Moon Sector for spawning Tyrs. I've capped and now own 5 so far. I've blown up another 5 or so. If the spawning Tyr has Hull Polarization (HP), I blow him up with a Skirnir and 3 Shadow missile barrages. I launch from about 20 km, change ship, then jump out the Skirnir to avoid rep loss. I'm still Terran Hero of Sol.
It looks like there is a limit of 4 ATF Tyrs in the game, and another will spawn until there are 4. They spawn in either the Moon or TU3, it seems alternately. So you have to watch both places. On one hunting trip to TU3, I had to clear the Xenon first, or the Shadows would divert to a Xenon target. 3 Shadows took down a J at 40 km. 1 Shadow for an L was overkill but I had to do it. The Tyr is the toughest ship in the galaxy with 6 x 2GJ shields and 3 Shadow barrages just erases it.
I capped the first Tyr with a Boreas as the support ship, and I noticed the Skirnir escort ships just hung around, until I jumped the capped Tyr out. Once my Sirokos got back from the gate, I transfered marines and capped two Skinirs. They can have HP also. Two didn't. My first one had MAM Launchers as weapons and NO ammo. The second had EMPC and Shadows so it was harder.
The Skirnir has a large cargo hold, and I have 180 Shadows right now, at $80,000 each. The Skirnir with Shadows can clear just about any sector. I plan to make it part of my team. But Xenon keep spawning in their sectors and never stop, so I need the Tyrs when I invade.

Bill in S.F., enjoying the game

You can also just jump to any in-sector gate and it disassociates your ship from the missles (ie: no rep loss).Bill Huntington wrote:If the spawning Tyr has Hull Polarization (HP), I blow him up with a Skirnir and 3 Shadow missile barrages. One volley of shadows can bring your rank from hero of federation to confirmed insurgent and then back to some higher levels. The rank becomes basically just random if you use them on patrol And yes, you can nuke the universe with them on your lunch break.you make it sound like thats such a bad thing

Not in the Moon you can't, because you can't jump to TOAskreep69 wrote:You can also just jump to any in-sector gate and it disassociates your ship from the missles (ie: no rep loss).Bill Huntington wrote:If the spawning Tyr has Hull Polarization (HP), I blow him up with a Skirnir and 3 Shadow missile barrages. Exactly. HHTs are so inferior compared to shadows so this basically explains why the game calls Terrans tecnicallly superrior when they in fact have inferior weapons in most respects. And I need to try this jump out maneuver one day with Torus and its evil laser towers.Skism wrote:Shadow Missiles...Thats the one fired by the Skinir right?
Absolutely nothing stupid with shadows btw. They have a very limited use because of thisfriendly fire.
Do the shadows correctly retarget, if you jump in sector? I know they don't if you jump the ship out (they retarget based on the launching ships friend/foe settings) but not sure as they still will if you jump the ship IS.
Doesn't matter if you're just trying to destroy one target, but means you can't use the retargetting with no rep loss (which IMO is good).

Struggling to find something from the forums - Google it!!!
The problem I have with Shadow Missiles is that the forges for them die so quickly I have restarted my game and on just over a game day old all the Shadow Forges have died there are still missiles in some defence stations so I hope I get the rep to buy the few Shadows before the AI clears them completely.
