Any way to decrease the graphics to speed up game?

My game is S U P E R slow whenever I am in Terran space...my first impression is that it's because all the high-polygon STATIONS that are enormous and way out of scale...then there are all those ships. When I'm out of Terran space, my game runs fine. Is there a setting to decrease the graphics and increase performance?

Unless you've disabled the popup menu that appears when you launch the game all of the options are listed under the top option "Graphic Settings".
