Poisoned Paranid Start.
Well if any of you think its hard, its not just under 24 hours and I have the credits needed. I was thinking it would be hard, however I now have 28 million credits!!! I thought a few extra would be nice to kit my hyperion out with

Not happening, the most anyone's gotten out of it (who've posted) is in the 240m/s range. Best I got was 216.4m/s on my third try. Tried 50+ more times, fastest speed I got out of all those reloads....209.7m/s.
With a some reloading you should be able to break 200m/s. IIRC, the rudder also can endup ovetuned to the point where the ship handles like a fighter.
BTW what come's on board the ship (like marines) is also subject to the RNG.

There are only so many of what I call 'option points' you get, so if you want higher level marines, you'll be trading those for your ship upgrades, via the Random Number Generator. You also have an M3 fighter that changes with each reload, and may be using some of those 'points'. I don't know how the algorithm works, but I don't think you'll ever get both high level marines and a maxed out speed on your Hyperion no matter how many times you reload.

In all my games I get the "236.7". The guy who got the 240 apparently reloaded for 4 days. I generally can "hit" the 236 in under an hour.
The idea is if you are going to pick something, you might as well pick something that cannot be attained any other way. Marines can be trained (although they are a nice bonus if your 236 features a few high level ones.)
Another happy accident is that my current hyp has an overtuned (slightly) turning rate too, @ 6.7 rpm.
But to each his own.
Another bonus to finishing the 25,000,000 quest, it re-sets your Paranid rep no matter how low it was prior.
I take the oppertunity to quickly build a capping industry. by the time my 3 days were up I had about
25 Agamemnon's,
5 Ares,
1 Deimos,
about 14 Hercules,
tons of normal Nemesis I sold,
5 Hyperion,
5 heavy nemi's and a cobra.
I couldn't get enough high marines to cap M1/M2, but after all was said and done, just selling the normal M6 Nemi's a couple of hercs and the rest are in a ship graveyard. I kept all the aggys and converted some of them to different duties.

I just got a 196!!! So im nearly where I want to be!!! Still not as good as the spring blossom. mine was 223 also but ive got the marauder shipyard mod which has a overtune shop and for another 6mill +25 space weed my personal Hyperion Vanguard cruises at 256 but ive since replaced it with a Panther as my primary ship.brucewarren wrote:I made do with 223 in the end. im just guessing but RE in the HQ will probly result in a normal hyperion vanguard? so i need to go to a paranid sector and cap another one right?
it sure would of been nice to have a fleet of 223 speed Hyperions floating around my sectors lol but im not paying 6mill to overtune each one. only doing that for my personal ships to give it a bit of unique performance.

Also, for AI controlled ships IS, you don't want them too fast as they are better fighters, pilots, and collision avoidance specialists at slower speeds.
