The Unknown sector of Avarice (Can i get some info?)
Just wondering exactly what it is, as it is marked as unknown sector and it has the wreckage of stations and shipyards in it.
Just wondering also why it is called Unknown Sector as the station and ship wreckage would suggest that it was a major sector of a kind that combined with the fact that it is Massive i woul think that it would be claimed by someone (well in my game it is claimed by me but stil )
So just wondering if i could gt some info / lore / background

Avarice was once a large trading HUB.
The 5th Elite Q Regiment is to blame for it's destruction.
You see, the lolwut tribe of the planet in that sector discovered a crashed ship with a partially functional JD on it. Thinking it was a gift from the gods, they aligned it with the sun and stuck an electric cahoona prod (another 'gift') through it. A form of sacrifice if you will.
As you probably guessed, this did not end well. Because of the electromagnetic flux fields produced with the combining of the JD and Cahoona prod plus the extra energy from the sun, the Xenon thought the entire sector was charging up for an emergency jump.
As for what the Xenon do when something tries to E-jump; read this post.

In X3:Reunion it was an empty unknown sector that the player would be offered to buy if they had amassed sufficient sums relatively early on. (I'm talking several billion in ~10 game days, but don't quote me on that, I never did it)
I presumed that the station wrecks are all that is left of the player from the last game...

Yes, In R you could buy Avarice for an inordinate amount of credits.

Yes i think everyone in TC lays claim to this sector and uses it as there home base i used to as well, but even though i still maintain a large number of stations there i have moved on (mainly due to LAG). But it's just so nice to see a once deserted sector become once more a very busy hive of activity

Did you play any mods? When starting R that sector is empty. I think even the name Avarice is diplayed first when the auction starts

errr.....The teladi trade station doesn't even get added to the sector untill game day 5. I aquired the PHQ fast enough to even beat that trade station to Avarice a few times. Also, there has never been any NPC owned factories operateing in Avarice in any X3R game I've played. I guess it could be possible but the odds are the same as buying the winning lotto ticket from a teladi.
