Goner plot - following the blastclaw (need help)

Post by Random_person » Mon, 7. Jun 10, 20:10

'ello

I'm currently following the blastclaw that has <name here> captured onboard in the Goner campaign.
After passing Maelstrom followed by a Carrak and about 20 other ships, I manage to go into the Unknown Sector. There I get targeted by a TM and some other small things and I get butchered by all those spammy-misiles. I can't even target and destroy them because they're everywhere and I can't distinguish the faint light from the laser spam (especially those damned PBGs), which is also a large problem.
100mj shielding goes down along with the hull in about 5s.

Any advice on this? thanks

PS: Misile-defending turret is on a tea break, it seems.

Either get a faster ship (like a Kestral) or a heavier ship (M2/M7M).

Yeah, I got real pissed when dying after following that guy for an eternity...so I brought in the M7M, jumped through the gate and unloaded a barrage of hammers at each capital ship and then just spammed flails until everything was dead. After that, the rest of the mission is easy. :-D

Wouldn't a Kestrel be hard to keep in the 10-18km range of the ship?

Also, dose the Blastclaw wait in Merchant's Haven if I don't go "start" the mission? Because the best ship I have is an enchanted Perseus

1. You'll have do some fiddling with speed and flying but it can be done.

2. Yes, the Blastclaw will remain stationary until you get within the follow range.

Another way is to get the Pirates friendly with you, it makes the trip easier if you prefer not going the combat route.

And that Blastclaw is indestructible (if you do things right you can take possession of it, not sure if 2.7 changed this though).

Kestrel is easy to keep in range.

Just hit CTRL+F, it matches speed to target.

That's a really useful command that one. I've re-mapped to numpad enter
so I can just reach it with my thumb while still clutching the mouse. Really
most handy in combat.

In my game the blastclaw was going like 80m/s. You can easily keep it in range with half the capital ships in the game. Kestrel is the definition of overkill.

Steer by strafing. Go high, go low. I end up spiraling around the pirate syndicate blastclaw in SETA.
