Boarding pods are allergic to the paranid =(((
So I've been trying for a long time to get marine boardings to work and I finally have tons of boarding pods, a missle ship, marines etc. I brought a paranid TL to a convenient area and have been trying to cap it for some hours now. Basically what happens is, my escorts can get it's sheilds down after a while, then once they are under 5%, I launch a few flail barrage missles to act as a screen, then my 3 boarding pods (I have 15 marines). The missles will actually hit the ship, not getting intercepted, so they can't act as a good screen anyway- but then, the boarding pods will either get shot down, which I don't think is true as I'm shooting into the ship's blind spot, OR they are getting destroyed on impact. How can that be though? Why would my boarding pods fail on impact? Then the surviving marines disperse through space and try to float back to me as the TL flies around trying to dog fight with the escorts attacking its sheild. Ugh.

ok I got it to work, please at least know what you're talking about remotely before suggesting anything- I appreciate it, but if I hadn't read before, and believed you, I'd have some serious issues, mate.
The guns were killing the pods but on my screen, for some reason at a certain distance, objects in space may appear behind an object even if the object is further away than the object- so I couldn't see the lasers.
The pods don't get destroyed on impact, they explode like a missle- but they don't get killed andthey don't report a mission failure.
Also, hull polarization makes it twice as hard to cut into the hull, it does not hurt your marines.
I do have a problem though-
the TL has 2 escorts docked in it that are not mine- how do I get them to GTFO?

yes they do. just on certain ships its more or less obvious due to the hitbox not conforming to the shape / size of the ship. The pods don't get destroyed on impact,
this is why during an op you press F2(or repatedly press F1 while the other ship is targeted) to have the camera floating around the boarded vessel so you know whats going on.The guns were killing the pods but on my screen, for some reason at a certain distance, objects in space may appear behind an object even if the object is further away than the object- so I couldn't see the lasers.
mission failure is only when the marines are killed.but they don't get killed andthey don't report a mission failure.
also, your first sentence, who is that addressed to?

They weren't talking about third person view, they were talking about using the target camera to allow you to more easily view the action around the target ship.
As for getting rid of those fighters that still consider your TL to be their homebase, there is no really good way to do that. They should launch to defend the ship if it gets attacked, so a quick trip into a Xenon sector may do the job.
