I'm hanging out in Danna's Chance watching pirates get popped and collecting loot (especially disruptor missiles for OTAS) when the UFO wanders in and scoops up the last couple of unclaimed crates! I skip over to Hatikva's Fate to watch a Race Response skirmish and find out that the sector is apparently on the UFO's route since in enters a while later and makes a bee-line for my crates! Thank goodness I was using MARS since there's no way I could have beat that jerk to any of the goodies otherwise.

Is this new behavior for the UFO? I've not noticed it before and haven't seen any posts regarding it (even did a quick search -- nada).

I got the same thing in an Argon sector after a Khaak invasion within 2 hours of the start of my latest game.....

Are you using any mods? I'm wondering now if it's part of LV's Race Response Fleets mod since just a few minutes ago I saw two UFOs picking my stuff. Isn't there only one UFO in vanilla X3?

Do pirates do the same thing? I haven't really noticed any of this.

I always found it odd that pirates would attack a ship and leave all the loot for me to pick up...

It's not uncommon for me to see UFOs in different sectors at the same time.I play vanilla ,mostly ,and not seen the above behavior yet.

Kill the UFO's to deprive the Secret UFO Base of resources!

Never seen them pick wares up. Come to think of it I've seen more accidental pickups, an M4 picked up some Ore or Silicon, than a deliberate pickup. Maybe one or two in X3R. At least one of those fellows had an accident soon after.

Can UFO's be killed in vanilla? I have rammed a few, and they just bounce off - no damage. Also, how many different types are there? I have seen several, and they appear to be evolving. Is there some sort of sub-plot at play here? :gruebel:

I think the only ship that can kill an UFO is a Spitfyre, they got some massive shielding, go 300+ m/s and turn on a dime. I can never find them when I'm in a Spitfyre though... :(

Unlikely, since an M4 can't carry XL-class cargo, and that's what ore and silicon are. More likely, it just rammed the crate and destroyed it.

As for different types of UFO's and UFO's deliberately picking up cargo, don't think so, at least not without a mod or script. The proof is in the screenie. :P

Are you guys talking about a UFO in X3TC?

I still havn't seen one yet in X3TC and i only ever saw it twice in X3R in which i remember following it once for hours and hours and hours before giving up the chase after feeling like i had just wasted the best years of my life.

Because i havn't seen any yet in X3TC i thought that they weren't in the game, so can someone confirm it for me if they are in X3TC or not?

I also followed the UFO in X3R and found it a waste of time. No secret UFO base for me.

Yes, they're in X3TC. I've seen them (without any mods), but didn't follow it. Fool me twice... ;)

I haven't met any UFOs in X3TC yet and I think Egosoft put them without any purpose - just for fun.
