how do you get good terms with the yaki (treasure hunt)

Do missions for them or kill their enemies in Yaki controlled sectors.

Occasionally, you should see a Yaki light fighter with an available combat mission flying through Commonwealth space. That might be enough to boost your reputation with them to the point where they don't shoot you on sight. Those ships don't tend to live long in some sectors, though.

I don't remember ever getting in good terms with them (more like very bad blood), and still did the treasure hunt with no problem.

If you do plenty of build missions for pirates,you may be lucky and find you've done some for the Yaki.

If you are not able to dock at the Yaki shipyard,eg., get a hacker to open it to you.
Then look for missions from there.

Both the above have worked for me in different games.

Destroying all the Kha'ak ships in Yaki sectors, also helps gaining rep. with them.
