I still get little shivers flying into kingdoms end.....
When I first played X3:R I headed straight to kingdoms end as most do when you fly off to get a certain object.
I'll always remember the moment of thinking 'jesus that feels great' when you jump in through the south gate, the music starts and you are staring straight at the planet with 'roids in site.
Anyone else still get that? Perhaps not with kingdoms end but a similar thing. Even now, with TC I get that feeling flying through that sector. Sometimes I just chill in orbit of the planet organising my affairs.

I just like the music in Kingdom End. It's also got a good layout with the asteroids in orbit around the home planet. Overall a good example of what comes to mind when visiting a planet's space in a space simulation.
Duke's Buccaneers... I hate you so much... I am sooo demolishing your HQ when our business is finished....

It's the same feeling you get when leaving the "Vortex Rikers" in "Unreal". Silence until you're finally out and then that music starts to play ... awesome.
... what is a drop of rain, compared to the storm? ... what is a thought, compared to the mind? ... our unity is full of wonder which your tiny individualism cannot even conceive ... I've heard it all before ... you're saying nothing new ... I thought I saw a rainbow ... but I guess it wasn't true ... you cannot make me listen ... I cannot make you hear ... you find your way to heaven ... I'll meet you when you're there ...

I'm ashamed...ashamed...to say I don't know what this is subtly referencing. Bala Gi missions initiation maybe?when you fly off to get a certain object.

The toucan hauler in menaleus' paradise and on the way to it I get as you say the triplex and a set of goggles. I start in argon prime usually, before the new start was implemented I just used my own start that put me in Argon prime.... heh call me sentimental....).
Yeah but that's why I love it these days. Spend most of my days fighting bad guys and shooting asteroids. Sometimes the break from X3 reality that kingdom end gives you is ........ well nice I suppose. It's like the cup of tea after a 4 hour SMT meeting where the future of your department just got laid out.

Kingdom end is for me the place to break with the universe & relax.
War all across, pirates pillaging, xenon marching, and Khaak raiding. You traders running into deathtraps, your escorts getting vaporized by menacing Q's and people giving you hard times with their tight delivery schedules...
When it's hell, I jump to Kingdom End, and loiter around, enjoying the peaceful music. Somehow when I'm there, it seems the rest of the universe is detached for a moment, like a real good lounge.
The atmosphere there is totally different due to the music & the placing of the gates then the rest of the universe, and it's good, always a peaceful retreat when hell just payed you a visit.

I had it on my Car stereo mp3 flash drive. Along with the Teaser Music (08512, it's at the bottom).
I think I need to head there for a while... I've been stuck in bloodshed and warfare dosed with 50ml of hellish fury for so long I think I need to head to the spa&relaxation sector.

Kha'ak don't use gates, so that's more luck than anything else. In fact, they usually pop in a long way from the sector centre and then cruise around until they come into range of something to attack, which could be you!Triaxx2 wrote:there's enough firepower around the gates that pirates and even Kha'ak don't bother me.
For those who like the Peace 2 theme, there's what looks to be a higher-bitrate version and some alternate takes, as well as other music from Alexei Zakharov's site (he's the author) here:

Do you remember Shalebridge Cradle?
Beware! The Cradle *doesn't* forget....

I'm not particularly impressed by that track or view either, but the same goes for each track and each sector. Only the X472 -- packed as thight red as it can -- could count as "looks good" on my scale. And that obviously is not about the background.esd wrote:Except me. Can't stand it myself. Too happy - it just doesn't quite fit the 'verse
Not that Kingdom End wouldn't have a particular memory attached to it. I did visit every single sector on the X3R (this was pre-2.0) galaxy before entering KE. Intentionally. And I've kicked myself for not having chosen Home of Light as the furthest place to visit (starting in Argon Prime, plot and all).
