Why use PSGs?
I know they're just oversized flamethrowers but why use them? All they do for me is kill any nearby ship.

PSGs rock against bigships
PSGs drain Shields faster than you can spell P-h-a-s-e-d-S-h-o-c-k-w-a-v-e-G-e-n-e-r-a-t-o-r, especially on bigger Ships
At least, they did so with any capital-class ship I encountered in my Deimos which has mounted only 2 PSGs in the main gun slots.
I think it's because of the expanding wave, doing damage on every "expansion-cycle".
I don't know whether that is actually true, but that's what I observed using the PSG on Ships of >M6 class

As the size of an explosion increases, the number of social situations it is incapable of solving approaches zero.

In Reunion you can put PSGs on Fighter class ships.
In Reunion I put PSGs in my "Ka'ak Cluster Killer"
I also put PSG's in Perseus/Medusa turrets for anti-missile defense.
In Terran Conflict, I probably won't use them.

In reunion I stuck B and G PSGs on my Hyppy turrets and Set them on attack all enemies. I lost quite a lot of reputation and made a lot of people very angry but nothing could even get near me to touch me.
In TC they are not quite so versatile since they are only available for capital ships and limited to Paranid and a very few others. Still they're very handy for going to visit the Kha'ak and Xenon neighbours.

Right and on something like a Deimos, they can make an AoE monster that makes it hard for anything smaller than an M6 to get close and stay close, for M6 and above it can strip their shields and allow major hull damage based weapons to be even more effective.
Also PSG is one of the only weapons that works well with mixing turrets.

I use PSG-equipped ships for solo incursions into enemy space only. They're too unwieldy to use in fights where you've got more than one ship.
Though it is fun setting all turrets of a PSG-equipped Aggy to Attack All Enemies, sitting it in a busy trade lane in Argon Prime, and then switching all Friend/Foe settings to "Foe" and watching the carnage wreaked on freighters, transporters and police fighters. And the patrolling capital ships, when they arrive.
