Where can I buy a spacefly for my Pirate Kestrel?
Does anyone know if spaceflies are actually for sale, or will I have to
hunt them myself?
I've just put a Turbo Booster on my Pirate Kestrel which kicks it
up to a whopping 1542 ms, but it burns through my meagre 49 e-cells
in short order so I'm looking for a spacefly to put in the fuel tank.
Thanks.

You have to hunt them with an IonD and a spacefly collector.
Maverick: Requesting permission for flyby.
Air Boss Johnson: That's a negative ghostrider, the pattern is full.
Goose: No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea.
Maverick: Sorry Goose, but it's time to buzz a Split.
Split: Split now give you .... Aaaarrriiiigh.

I'm not sure of the ware amount but perhaps spaceflies could be more productive (there is another word I was thinking of but I had a brainfart...) than ecells when you consider ware volume.brucewarren wrote:Thanks guys.
I think I'll have to kit out the old Hydra then. I didn't know you needed
more than one though. Guess I'll need to stockpile them.
You can find spaceflies laying around after killing Split or Pirates, but it's like a 1% chance unless you scan them before you kill them. Hunting spaceflies in TC is just about worthless, I've heard there are tricks but after at least 100 hours of gameplay I have only seen 1 swarm....
Spacefly hunting....Not too hard with some patience.
Hang out near a map asteroid and go about manageing your empire. It's there to kill time so make use of it. When you hear the tell-tale chirp of spaceflies stop what you are doing and pull the trigger on the ID. Collect the now stuned spaceflies quickly (they don't stay stuned for long) and move onto the next system. Then do the same thing there if you wish.
The Boron Mako can specialize nicely for the task.

Phe leading ship of pirate wings sometimes carry those bugs. When you kill them they drop some.

I really should have thought of that.
It's not as if a single 5M shield is going to offer any significant protection
and at full speed, it's not as if anything is going to hit me. [Me flying into
'roids is a different matter]
I can only plead that I've got used to flying shielded and feel naked without them.

AFAIK it's not possible.

If you are using a Hyperion you can but it involves using docked fighters as Ecell storage for jumping. That's what I do.kurush wrote:Is it actually possible to make TB use shields while you have some EC in your cargo bay?Forcy wrote:you can also make the excuse that you want to keep the e-cells for jumping.

if not vanilla this is as simple as changing the order of a few lines in one of his scripts.
Also, Travel Drive by Lucike is quite nice for small craft out of combat..it uses E-cells much less quickly, but they cannot have a jumpdrive installed. It is also only S ware class. (it is very nice to use with a game using jumpdrive ware class modified to be L or XL)
