Yaki ships generally a little harder to cap? - X3TC
Been sat in Savage Spur for about 2 hours blowing up yaki fighters, 20, 30 maybe who knows. But not one of the buggers has bailed. I know capping like this is quite random but do Yaki ships seem a little harder to make bail?

they have a reduced chance if its the only weapon you use for capping, which is why the PBE is carried, as it does very low hull damage.Raider480 wrote:I'd be careful with the IonD... saw a mod post somewhere around here that they substantially reduce bailing rates if they are involved in the process. I'd just not carry them, hop out to another ship and hope I didn't get the space virus they seem to have become.
Be nice if anyone could confirm...

Yeah if you only use IonDs for capping you will have zero percent success due to the fact it does no hull damage what so ever. I once spent an hour firing 6 at a pirate M5. It didn't seem all that bothered by it, apart from the occasional threat against me and my entire race xD
The other problem with the IonD is you have to be careful you are no where near anything friendly.. Or it will not be friendly for long lol.
The PBE does very very light hull damage. So if you add one of those in, you can ever so slowly chip the hull away (it will have no shields due to the IonDs).
I personally find that I have the most success when I give them more chance to bail.. I.E. Constantly putting tiny little holes in his hull for quite a while will give better chances than slapping it really hard a couple of times. This just my observations tho and I am by no means a rabid fighter capper...

By far the best capping guide I've seen (was written for X3R by one of the mods, I think) was simply:
1. Shoot the ship as if you intend to destroy it
2. If it turns blue stop shooting and claim it
3. Find another ship and return to 1
In X3R the capping code was dissected and there was an increased chance of the ship bailing if you were in a stronger ship with stronger weapons equipped...
May well be different for X3TC tho...

Struggling to find something from the forums - Google it!!!
I`ve not tried to cap ships in X3R......
However, i can say that capping the Yaki in X3TC is a bit of a hit and miss operation. Sometimes i can cap about 7 out of 20 Yaki ships and on other days not cap a single ship, and can get through a heavy number of them.
I do have quite a number of Yaki ships in my fleet, but don`t really use them..... I did find that after they lost heavy numbers, they do eventually send a few bigger ships to investigate. It`s a little shocking after a bad day of having no bails, to suddenly get a couple of M6`s and an M1 or M2 pop through with a full complement of fighters wanting to know what the hell im up to

All time yaki caps: 1 ship. But it was a good one. The M4 interceptor which was a very good player ship when attached to the Hyperion.
This was in X3:R.
