(X3TC v.3.0) GONER PLOT/ MISSION - Claiming TrueLight Seeker: Changed?

Post by ThommoHawk » Thu, 14. Oct 10, 06:19

I have not done the plot previously so am not sure what is supposed to happen. I understand players can get the TrueLight Seeker. Started the mission In v.3 and when I get directed to go recapture the Goner Pirate Truelight Seeker this is what you get:

1) The message says ship was last seen heading out of Midnight Star but the mission director highlights Grand Exchange - and yes the TLSeeker is there.

2) When I arrive at grand exchange, a message tells me I'll need a boarding crew. The TLSeeker is blue, not red. Its Pirate escorts are all red. I do not fire on any ship at this stage.

3) 'Info' about the TLSeeker reveals no pilot. Using the freight scanner reveals it to have full loadout of shields, gauss cannons, no internal security, but with 4 marines / mercs sitting in the cargo bay.

4) I take out the remaining Pirate escorts (which have been engaged with a Phoenix). The TLSeeker stays blue.

5) I order my Cobra to board the TLS, and I bring its shields down (TLS stays blue)

6) The boarding marines arrive and this is when the TLS turns red, and attacks my Cobra, which has to be jumped out to prevent getting destroyed.

7) The TLS is captured, and immediately flys off to the Teladanium Foundry in Elysium of Light with my marines inside, and NOW HAS a pilot, Daye Gisler on board. in my message log I get the usual 'you have claimed a ship. truelight seeker the ship is yours'. But it is blue, not green.
(This is exactly what happened in the Terran Mission, where my marines were permanently kidnapped, and I don't want it to happen again ... pleasessss nooooo)

I have followed it all the way back to E.L. to confirm it's destination.

8) ALTERNATIVELY I have tried not boarding it, just claiming it, and the same thing occurs - except there is no stage where the TLS turns red, and the instant it is claimed, a pilot pops out of no-where and flys it off to Elysium of Light.

In both cases, each time I get the ship is yours message in the pilot log, and also the next stage of the mission to fly to another sector looking for the goner guy in a new ship now... So how do i get the TLS?

Edit: O.K. I have completed the mission. Some observations (TC 3.0):

1. I can confirm the Truelight Seeker does not have to be boarded at all, just claimed. Repeat, leave your Marines at home.

2. Succesfull claiming will appear in your Pilot Log, but the ship will not turn green and you will not have control over the ship, nor will it appear in your property menu. Let it go.

3. It will then fly to Elysium of Light and Dock at the Teladianium Foundry built by the player for the Goners there, and immediately on docking you get a message saying the ship is now yours as reward - even if you have not completed the mission yet. Checking the Telad. Foundry confirms the ship is docked there and is now green, and that you own it.

Note: I did not check to see if the ship was still invincible after claiming, (up to that point it is) so if not, then it is possible that the ship could have bad luck and be destroyed by Xenon entering Black Hole Sun, Treasure Chest, etc (I had a Xenon migration happening in mine, just as the TLSeeker got there).

4. It takes the TLSeeker almost as long to reach Elysium of Light (at 60m/s), as it does for the player to follow the BlastClaw to Gaiaan Star, which is why it appears as if you get it as an end of mission reward - it is not. The UFJD is the end of mission reward instead. You get the True Light Seeker for 'ahem'... 'rescuing' the astronaut guy from the Pirate Base (I think), but it may be nothing to do with it. In my case, The TLS was handed over to me as soon as it docked - I happened to be checking it OOS at the time. You get the UFJD after returning with the 'goods' and destroying the P.Base..... (Seems that way ... )

you board it again. :P

before your marines hack the core, launch another wave of marines, by the time they get there, it should be turned over to the goners, which means its captureable.

same procedure for the #DECA

It should be awarded at the and of the plot.
SCUM : They may exceed you in number, but not in value.

You could always claim it, but it doesn't always spawn with no pilot.

Back to 1.4 at least.

It never spawns without a pilot. It loses its pilot when it stops near the trading station in Grand Exchange.
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

I killed all the pirates around in, and checked the ship has "No pilot". It's crusing at a steady 30 kmh (or whatever unit that is) and there is no option to claim it when get my ship within 40m or so of it.

Would I have to wait till it stops at the trading station near Grand Exchange? :? That's the sector it is in right now and it looks like it's heading in the right direction.

It will cruise back to elysium of light and once docked at the new goner temple it is becomes yours - you will see it in the property menu, but not until it docks. You can claim it. but don't even try to board it, save your marines. Watch out for Xenons on parade in black hole sun though - could get destroyed.

I HAD to board / claim it for the plot to continue...

I ended up buying the best 5 marines at the closest outlet and threw them at the ship. That got the job done and not too expensively. :)

The way it works right now though I consider it bugged.

Yep, it is wrongly reported that the boarding is neccessary, it is in fact totally not required .... I have made a report in the plot walkthrough available at the spoinlers forum... (v.3.0)happy to see you have had success just the same.

Boarding was required for my 3.0 superbox game...sigh

In my 3.0 game TLS spawned with Polarized Hull Plating and never has stopped flying around Grand Exchange chasing pirate ships.

I shot down it's escorts and left the sector to wait for it to fly elsewhere...except it never did. It never left the sector even 3 or 4 hours of play later over several RL days.

Just Info, locate on sector map ect on the menu.

Help would be appreciated. (running 3.0)

I started a new game in V3.0 in order to check this.

Once the TLS Pirate Syndicate escorts have been wiped out, assuming you have not shot the TLS AT ALL it will come to a complete stop and can then be "claimed" as though it were any other derelict/captured fighter. Either hop out and EVA to within 30m or use SOS from the same distance. Job done!

I have completed the Goner plot several times in X3TC, but only once since the 3.0 patch. In this case the TLS did NOT return to Elysiuim of Light but instead docked at the shipyard in Grand Exchange and sits there to this day, unclaimable as it still has its own pilot. I have completed the Goner plot, so can anyone explain why this happened please, did I make a mistake this time somehow?

(just in case I get motivated to start a new game sometime in the future) :)

Yeah exactly like this.

1. I claimed the TLS, now it will set of to EoL

2. but I attack its shields and get its attention (turning red/enemy)

3. lauch marines against it

4. do the boarding and get a TLS, before the plot ends (now follows the last part of the plot, shadowing, Weed/Squash mines... boom.. everybody happy)

OK we all know the deal. After it arrives in EoL, we get a message to pick it up as a reward.

The thing is with my v2.1 I have it still invulnerable... hull won't go down under 93%. I don't even need shields to sweep a Xenonsektor ramming everything to death (won't even need weapons O_o ). Ah it is just funny that way. Helps to let go of some steam...
