Misbehaving Lasertowers?

I needed to raise my rep with split, so I placed 6 lasertowers at the south gate of thuroks beard, as well as an Adv sat. While I was there, a dukes transport jumped in, and the towers made short work of it. When I left the system, I saw a pirate wing jump in, but they did not take any damage from the placed towers.

That's not the point however....

The point is, when I go OOS, it seems my towers fall asleep and do nothing.

OOS, laser towers have to be attacked before they respond. For some reason only one in a group can fight back. Whats worse, even when they do fight back, their OOS combat value is bugged. Ive seen a TS fight a laser tower OOS to a stalemate.

Again, worthless.

You seem to be able to afford a TL, buy one and do a few build missions. The rep gain is crazy fast from those

Also Taxi missions are good for rep

Um, not when your at -3 rep. I left my Cerby parked for 5 days and got my rep up to family friend instead of family enemy.

Starting as a Boron, the Split hate you and shoot you on sight. So do the Paranid.

That sounds like Unholy Traitor start, wherein you are Split, not Boron. If there were a warlike Boron start that would be amusing!

Starting as boring boron, the Split and Paranid have you at -4.

Fortunately, you also start at 98% relations with them. Just a single pirate/khaak/xenon kill will bump you off of KOS.

lol....i bought my first laser tower and put it near my first wheat farm....i must have somehow accidentally made the argon police mad and before i could say srry the lasertower would start shooting anything that moved 0.0 making even more ships mad then a titan warped in and got mad then i re loaded my game and ejected the tower then slaughtered it >.>

over in s/m they have a "ring of fire" script.
Seems to be a complete circle of Laser towers.
Quite effective from what I have read.

Easiest way to gain rep is to dock at one of their trading stations and buy goods, then sell it back... then buy it... then sell it back.... infinity.

if their rep to you is so bad that you can't dock, then hire a convoy mission at the nearest sector that plans to go into one of their boarder sectors... and start killing red ships in that boarder sector.
